Researching to add chokes to my arsenal and came across Japanese Necktie. Not sure how it's any different than Darce. Both seem mechanically the same. Can anyone explain what's different?

Definitely not the same. The darce requires you to figure 4 your arms to finish. The JNT only requires a vice grip. At the moment I feel that the JNT is superior because it's quicker to attack with and it seems like tons of people are still very much unaware of it. They defend the darce thinking they're out of harms way and end up tapping or napping.

and for anyone who thinks the JNT is all neck crank and not a blood choke, watch the homie Bryan Alves (10th planet Rochester) put an opponent to sleep.

we went over this maybe a month ago, try using search. the opnts arm is inside the choke on different sides basically.
JNT is much different than the D'arce. The JNT is what I use when guys are being finicky and don't want to comply when I'm D'arcing them. Then JNT comes off the "Vice Grips" as eddie calls it, Or "Bolt Cutter" as Jeff Glover refers to the grip type in his D'arcepedia. It's super effective, if you've got a strong vice grip. I'd put many reps into it to become profficient with the Failed D'arce to JNT. Word On the Street is those Vista Freaks Love their JNT'S! They all have some slick modifications to bump up your success rate. But don't fear it, it's not just a neck crank (Exemplified by the video). There's tons of power from there and the tap comes real quick so be easy on your training partner.

The jnt is closer to the darce than the conda. It's just easier to catch but can also be transitioned to both.
Always test the jnt, then adjust from there. Logical path.
Unless its the marce. Darce from the bottom.
Do a JNT from the bottom and call it a Jarce.
