Awesome performance! Completely made up for the Hendo vs Machida fight. What the hell was that?!
Ronda is a beast. She may well be the best finisher in all of MMA, man or woman. I thought she was in strife when Liz was cranking on her jaw as that is one painful position to be in but she showed true heart. Once she got in spider web I said to my wife it is all over.
That face crusher looked painful, I think I would have tapped! Ronda has heart, and boy, once she has that arm, you ain't getting it back for shit!
Hendo Machida was a drag. Machidas defensive style almost lost him that fight. If Hendo hasn't done shit in the last 2 mins he may have scraped it.
I enjoyed Faber and Menjivar too, that judo throw in the first 30 seconds was dope. Seems like that judo side control is easy to be swept from with the ease Faber swept him. Made me worry about Ronda! Fabers back mount was dope too.
All in all I thought it was a pretty decent card and I was more excited about this than I have been for any card in a while bar Aldo Edgar.
Machida fought smart. Disapointed Dan was so predictable. All Machida had to do to win was avoid Dan's right hand, Dan could have helped himself a lot by perhaps throwing a tad more than just the one technique.
Rhonda needs to learn to respect the underhook or she gonna give her back up again n again.
Pleased to see Robbie Lawler back in the mix. Wonder if Kos will get cut now.
Do you guys think if Ronda had attempted the arm crush last night Liz would have tapped?
I guess what I'm asking is, can you break the arm from the arm crush or is it a pain move? A bit like the RNC is a choke and the face crush Liz had on Ronda, Ronda just gutted out.
You can do all sorts of damage with a bicep slicer/arm crush.
It depends on angles but anything from seperated elbow to numerous ligament/tendon damage to breaking the forearm itself.
Whether someone taps to that or guts it out is down to them, much like tapping or gutting out a nailed on armbar.
Most people willing to gut it out will find a way to straighten their arm, which is where the beauty in the arm crush lies.
Yeah, I was surprised that Carmouche didn't go for the ol' reach-around wrist control on Ronda's attacking arm from that position. She did it when they were on their feet while she was defending the judo throw, but then she stopped when it hit the mat. Even if she couldn't sneak out the back, she could have reversed Ronda if she had the right control.
That scarf hold without the underhook is a big no-no in San Fran. Only one of our guys can get away with it, and only because he is both strong and stubborn.
Did anyone else notice the upkick to the tit? Will they have to institute a new rule about that?
I would of tapped to that face choke..
The rear naked knee bar was brilliant, dennis the menace has more gas than kuwait, Lawler looked scary, Ronda was amazing, machida is a great dancer
Rear naked knee bar?!?!? I totally missed this
A write up of that submission:

Hopefully there will be a Gracie Breakdown from this event. Lot's to talk about.

Not a great video but you'll get the idea
I cant understand how people think machida is boring. Controlling distance, timing, footwork that's martial arts fundamentals. You guys think bruce lee would be boring or call him a dancer too? I can see two idiots swing like hell at each other on youtube. Only reason he can have the style he does is because of the awesome threat of his strikes.

I dont see the rear naked aspect of that knee bar? Can someone help, looked like a knee bar from the back mount to me.
Ronda is tough, tough any man, tougher than most!
Machida doesnt seem concerned about having exciting fights. Whether thats right or wrong is debatable.
Honestly I thought Dan was more the reason that fight looked the way it did. I cant remember ever seeing such a high profile fight where one guy not only has just 1 way to win but 1 technique. Combinations Dan. Learn some.
In order to be a defensive fighter you have to have an offensive fighter trying to strike. If you put Machida vs Machida it would be two men standing and waiting on the other to "do something". I find that boring. If you like that style I'm not one to judge you.
From an entertainment perspective (which is what the UFC is to ME), I'd rather watch paint dry.
John Fitch is a great example of a really really good fighter that just simply isn't entertaining to watch (to most people). That's doesn't equate to "bad fighter" just "boring".
