I admire her courage and determination to protect her community that is clearly riddled with fear and violence. Is her approach the best approach? It's hard to say, but obviously what has been tried before was not effective and perhaps a new direction is what's needed to succeed. However, I personally would carry something to protect myself, it's just too outta hand there.

Having cops like her is great for the Cartel (or any criminal). The police force acknowledges that they will do nothing to catch or punish criminals. Having her as police chief, prevents the town from hiring someone else that may try to stand up to them.
wasn't it just a few weeks ago, I forgot the name of the lake the incident happened on, but there is a lake right on the border of mexico, where a couple was attacked by some mexican drug cartel, and the lead investigator on the mexican side went missing, and then his head was sent to some police agency in the United States. . . . needless to say, those aren't the kind of people I would want to tangle with.
