It always seems weird to me how much some people resist it or write it off as worthless. Maybe it's not that weird because I had a similar opinion some years ago before I ever started training and learning about it.
What do you think about their opinions?
These guys really know their shit. I hope one day they put out a DVD or webinar or book or anything so the world can benefit from their grappling expertise :-)

The rubber guard is a conspiracy theory. All that rubber guard footage from actual Mma fights is like the footage of Tower 7 getting demo'd. Although people see it they still won't believe it :)
This is my opinion on 10th planet/ lockdown / rubberguard / truck. If people don't believe it works or is useless that's a good thing. They won't rep it and won't understand how to defend properly makin attacking that much easier. I've got to rubber guard once in a tournament and the kid gave me New York because he didn't know u needed that arm on the mat. Made my life easy.
I read that article and have come up with my own conclusion/opinion: Those guys are NOT practitioner of the RG. Its like someone telling me how to raise my children when they themselves don't even have a child. How can they fully understand what they don't practice? Also even though I just found the RG about 4-5 months ago, I know that this 10thplanet and Master Eddie is NOT just about RG. Its a system!!!! those people just don't get it. WE HAVE A SYSTEM, NOT JUST THE RG. In these 4-5 months, we only scratched the surface of the SYSTEM. Sure RG don't always work, that is why there are more techniques within the SYSTEM, like the Prison guard to take the back or Prison guard to swim move to the spider web. But like Jeremy said, if haters continue to hate and don't show respect to the SYSTEM, then it will make our JOB even easier. One day when their people get caught in the RG or any other techniques within the SYSTEM, they will wish they pay more attention to the 10thplanet SYSTEM.

Interesting point about how guys aren't really concerned with guards because of the way fights are scored. I hear them on the idea that guys should be more focused on sweeps. I've expressed that sentiment for years. And I do agree that RG should not be the only guard you have.
But I still believe that if guys would give it a chance, they'd see it is a better guard than closed guard with double wrist control. I also think its better than closed guard even while clinching. I don't get the resistance. Multiple times they admit it works yet they keep opining against it as if its nearly useless.
But there was a time when guys thought jabs were useless in MMA. And even Rogan said that you can't have good head movement in MMA. Until Anderson, people thought the front snap kick was dead now they all use it. Just give it time. Eventually people started jabbing, using head movement, and throwing snap kicks. Little by little guys will mix RG into their game.
I am just waiting till Vinny tap Phil Davis with that shit. Then we'll see what is effective. Haters.

Lets look at this realistically, how long has BJJ been going? Since the 1930's or so. It has been refined day in and day out since mostly by the Gracie's until 1993 then it exploded. How many bjj schools all over the world refine their technique day in, day out? How many BJJ schools are there in your state alone? How many BJJ Black Belts are teaching in your state/ country? How long have the top grapplers in the world been practicing it? Refining it every day?
How long has the 10th Planet been around? How many 10thpjj schools are there worldwide? How many are in your state/ country? How many 10thpjj black belts are there in the ENTIRE WORLD? How long have all of these guys had to refine this new system? 10th Planet is still in its infancy!!!!
BJJ is an incredibly effective grappling art but what happened when Sakuraba faced the Gracie's? He beat them with catch wrestling!!! Sakuraba devoted time and put in the reps. Guess what? Other styles can be effective too. Thai boxers say karate doesn't work in the octagon but Machida put in the time and put in the reps!!!
BJJ is amazing and I love it but it's not the be all and end all.

I think part of the issue is that many people have trained with people trained in 10p. I know that the round table didn't turn out the most favorable towards the rubber guard, but there were those who came down in favor of it.
I think there certainly a place for the RG and high guard play in MMA, may fighters are breaking their own posture down as a way of being in guard. Please keep in mind my commentary on the guard was

I see the real problem is that the guard in general inherently defensive and the way MMA is currently judged, the top man is seen as winning regardless what is happening 90% of the time. So many MMA fighters do not attack when in guard or try to pass it, they simply to stop the bottom fighter from doing anything. I feel that has caused many MMA fighters to turn away from guard work, both in fights and in training.
There are all these wonderful new guards in competitive grappling because every aspect of that sport is evolving, while in MMA the guard seems to have hit a wall for now. Nobody but basically you guys are really willing to go out and learn try new things. Combat jiu jitsu could be an awesome testing and learning ground. So keep going 10p, not everyone is gonna love you but keep moving the ball forward.
To wrap up my post was meant purely to be a discussion starter, and it does seem more than a few community members are resistant to 10p, it was meant purely to allow people to share thoughts, not a hate thread.
Whatever you fight, you strengthen, and what you resist, persists.. This is how 10th Planet began. Imagine if right away every BJJ school excepted the concepts and principles of the lock down, rubber guard, etc.. Would 10th Planet exist? Perhaps instead of being anti this or that, we should just be pro 10th planet :)

It doesnt seem like it will every go away even if guys like Vinny are winning ADCC. "Oh he came up in the gi" You cant take the blinders off of peoples eyes if they dont want to see it.
I debated responding to some of the comments but whats the point. A lot of "I dabbled in rubber guard a little but I kept getting smashed and passed." I guess if it doesnt work when youre dabbling it should be dismissed...
