Is there one? I'm not asking when I'm getting my belt, just want to know what is expected. This might have already been beat to death in a previous thread but I'm curious as to the standard.

Have a quick search on the forum. Your instructor will let you know when you are ready though. Just be patient n work hard
There is an online way to do it. But if you're currently at a school, every instructor is different. Just work to get better. We have some ronins on this board who have competed and won in advanced brackets while still unranked. Hey man, I want a blue belt too one day. But for now, just focus on getting better. Your teacher will let you know when it's time.
You have to give it time. Don't focus on the belt just focus on the sport when your ready your teacher will let you know.
I completely agree with all of this. At the same time I feel that there should be a road map of sorts to at least, say, the half way mark. "you need to have these fundamental techniques down before even being considered for promotion." You get me? Not trying to rush the process just looking for some structure.
If tryin to get the belt via video submission, eddie asks that you know about 75% of the system.
I think a road map is a little closed minded. Part of the fun in jiu jitsu is finding your own way and your own path to the finish line. Developing your OWN game. Just enjoy the journey and let it happen brotha :)
As one of Ganesh's coaches I have to say that he is a patient and hard working student. I think what he wants is more of an Idea of what are the techs that all blue belts should know and NOT a list of techs that in the gracie system would automatically justify a belt IF you know them. I would say that for me this would start with something like this:
Lockdown: Whip up, Dog Fight, Electric Chair, Old School, Stomp
Rubber guard: Mission Control, Zombie, Night of the living dead, Pump, Crack Head Control, Chill Dog, Jiu Claw
I will let you guys fill in some more. Im thinking about techs that are crucial to the system and can be played in Blue belt level turny.
Closed minded? How so? I'm willing to bet champions have some sort of structure up to blue at least. Having structure doesnt make you closed minded at all.
I agree. I know certain schools like Lovato have a curriculum up to blue. You have to know certain escapes, certain submissions, and certain sweeps (Thats not saying you can't learn other techniques you just HAVE to know those specific techniques). Thats actually a pretty good question.
Do any 10th Planet heads have a belt structure? It would be interesting to see the philosophy on this.
Thank you for the support.
Thank you for the kind words, Phil. That's exactly what I'm looking for. I know it's not a scavenger hunt where as soon as you locate all the items you win a belt. A list of stuff that you HAD BETTER know before you even get considered for promotion is my goal.
I get what you're saying, Ganesh. My solution was to use the Gracie Jiu Jitsu system as a "foundation" because if its structure. The 10P system is more organic and nothing is held back. Nothing is off limits. Which is a different kind of vibe from what I get from the Gracie system.I could be wrong though.
I will, Jason. When can we see you at the hotbox again?
Just work hard and let it come to you. Ive only been to a moon 1 time and Ive been flying the 10flag for a few years now. I studied my ass off and did my best to learn the system on my own using only books, dvds, MTS, and this forum without even caring about being promoted, I just wanted to learn this system as best as I could. In reference to the "road map" I made a huge list of the terminology and where they go and posted it here on the forum. that helped me learn the system. Maybe that could help you out.
Hey bud, I'm actually moving up to Bellingham after this weekend. I'll be coming back through Ptown a few times next month for some work stuff and will try to stop by. Would love to train with you and see how your game is coming along. It's been a while and I know last time I saw you I was impressed:)
Ari had a sick 10p requirement list of what he used to require his white belts to know before he promoted them to blue, it was brokedown super professional, should have bookmarked it because i cant find it for the life of me now
Lots of sweethearts on the thread today.
Here you go, blue belt 19.95,

I cleaned it up a little,
• 10 Videos - competition wins with a 10th Planet patch, posted on your 10th Planet profile (you can have other school patches too).
• Plus 5, 10th Planet technique videos.
- 1 of all the half guard u know
- 1 of all the rg u know
- 1 of all the twister u know
- 1 of all the deep hook transitions u know
- 1 of all the passes u know
all unedited in one swoop.
• You gotta show me how much you know without looking at notes. Then you get a promotion, blue, purple or brown.
• Every promotion no matter what color will require the same 15 videos. Naturally the 5 technique videos will be critiqued a lot harder for a purple than a blue, or for a brown than a purple.
10th Planet head instructors that are non-black belts can only rank their students to blue. All Nibiru warriors, enrolled in official 10th Planet schools run by non-black belts, who want to get their purple or brown must be first recommended by their instructor and then submit 5 technique videos to this site. 1 of all the half guard u know, 1 of all the rg u know, 1 of all the twister u know, 1 of all the deep hook transitions u know, and 1 of all the passes u know, all unedited in one swoop. You gotta show me how much you know without looking at notes.
Has any one actually taken this route? Never seen it.
im pretty sure people have gone through the online process. ive heard of a guy getting a blue belt from it adn i think another one did it at purple. cant remember names though, and i may just be bullshitting. as far as im aware though, heads dont have to follow those guidlines.
I'm pretty sure I read a thread where a guy got his blue from videos.
