I like using the Meathook to clear the head?

It seems to work, should i be focusing on a different way?

You normally go to the meat hook if you can't zombie. After doing a zombie you would want to hug your knee tight preventing him from getting that arm back. If you meathook to the clear the head you wouldn't be trapping his arm at all Which is the hardest part.

What is your focus of attack ? I'm not a rubber guard master so someone else would be better off giving advice. I normally zombie/newyork/crackhead to armbar or chill dog/ invisible collar to omoplata / sweep. If I can't zombie I meat hook and look for triangles or bait them to giving up the zombie.

Clearing the neck with the meat hook works wonders for when the guy is trying to dig his head in to keep you from clearing the neck.

That being said, it does loosen the arm up a bit. Just work your clinch. Keep the times between the tight clinch positions as short as possible. Once you can feel the clinch, you will know where you can and can't go ;)

If its working theres nothing wrong with it. In this last tournament I cleared the head from Meat Hook and it worked fine.

Vinny cleared the neck against fabricio werdum in the adcc finals and it won him the match :)

If you're talking about going New York -> Meathook -> Chill Dog we do that all the time. But for sure a tight clinch is a must.

Ha I've always felt like I was cheating doing it that way. But it works for me. I also can't zombie worth a rat's, so I only go rubber/meat hook once I've forced a hand to the mat. I also suck at clearing the head so going meat hook to chill dog is like 100x easier for me.
