I know I'm anxious to see.
Yes please.
Was the basis of the seminar in melbourne i attended on Saturday, Its excellent...
whats always impressed me of the 10th planet style was the evolution, as we find better more efficient ways to do things they are injected, Eddie is so smart in that way. No ego, jsut becasue we used to do it a certain way doesn't make it right.
He did say it will be on MTS at some stage.
Is the old path obsolete, I wonder...?
If they're not rubber stamping, I'd say keep doing the OG Path. Most people still don't defend the OG Path well.
Matt Grubbs is spot on.
Was a brilliant seminar, fantastic new option.
I'm still working my flexibility to make it 100% for me but the readjustments to the path and options it creates are rock solid.
Eddie is a Genius.
And props to you slick rick I didn't have a clue about rubber stamping until the seminar.
Master Eddie gave you full credit for it, so thanks for that little thang.
Dude thanks for sharing Slick.
I love how the hand to the mat is the key to the technique where it's normally a death sentence.
I can't tell you how many times I've been in my Instructors RG looking at my trapped arm thinking, there must be something here ha ha!
I on the other hand, not so happy with you Rick... one of the guys i roll with on a regular basis, takes great pleasure in making me uncomfortable with this technique... until now i had no idea where to direct my frustration... haha :p
the new path is epic! ;)
If you ain't rubber stamping your not just going to get fucked
Rick you beautiful man you mad props on this one as well Eddie gove you full credit on the rubber stamp
The new path way is legit as it gets takes a lot of the guess work out and makes controlling your opponent super easier if your not hitting New York crack head now is the time to start repping numbers on it
Muddy waters is the missing piece of the puzzle for alot of great options
I was shown a triangle off one of my schools top brown belts that works directly off muddy waters no adjusting no movement from its it's just there it's been dubbed the "triforce" in class due to the guy showing its love of zelda
Thank you to eddie ,frank ,josh ,Grubb ,Jason ,mr and mrs Havok for making the seminar amazing
haha I was so eager to start drilling the path I got me a step by step guide through the whole thing haha. I can't wait to get back on a rubber guard kick in training later. Been working on so much other stuff lately (Imma deep hook whore atm) it will be nice to get back to it. :)
using sams words im an omaplata/gogoplata whore, so the moment we learnt muddy waters etc at the seminar ive been working on it and it works soooo easily. instead of going from high double bagger to armbar. i clear the head and either gogoplata or leave my foot there and just grab the arm and go back to the armbar. the omaplata is so sick from ther because the other arm is trapped in there aswell which means theres less room and it kind of armbars them at the same time as twisting on of their shoulders.
rick, the problem i found with going for the armabr from muddy waters is that they can stack really easy. do you ahve any advice on how to break them down. im just leg curling atm but it seems too easy for them to stack me.
Hi Isaac, I don't claim to be an authority on the new path but Epstein had shown a neat leg trick which involved straightening the hugged leg and tossing the guy off his base. If they tried to stack, it would be too late. Ill have to ask him sometime tho on the specifics.
Triforce! I love it, gotta get me some of that.
Can't wait to see the Muddy waters evolution!
Was very cool to finally meet you too Mr.Lawrence after seeing you on the forums for so long, looking forward to the next time and cheers for partnering up with my guy Ben.
He's new to all of this stuff, he had nothing but good things to say about you.
Thank you Slick Rick for showing the rubber stamp! It looks simply awesome (and awesomely simple).. Now we need to get the new path to MTS so we'll have a weapon against this rubber guard killer :)
Maybe somebody here could describe this "muddy waters" by words so I can already start experimenting around it? All this hype really got into me and now I'm too anxious to wait until it's in MTS :D
OK Shit, everyone is talking about the new path and muddy waters like there is a video posted. Why haven't I seen it? Where do I go???
heh you shouldve all come to melbourne. id just say that to be ready for you should work on flexibility and crackhead.
It's one of my dreams to go to Australia!
i wish i had the money to, melbourne would have been fun, and would have been nice to roll with everyone, but i know my flexibility is already on it, im trying to learn as much as possible right now, i want to start getting into local tourneys near san antonio
I got to muddy waters twice last night rolling in class. They do try to stack you pretty hard, I found that like Eddie said instead of attacking with the armbar you turn their wrist down like an Americana it settles them down pretty quickly to where you can either get a tap with it or have them positioned enough to try take the armbar without being stacked.
Also thanks for the Rubber Stamp vid Rick. Solid.
Lauri ad Kurzy,
I appreciate the feedback and love. The goal early on was to inform Eddie of a lil loophole I found in the path that could be harmful if exposed. I had asked permission from him a couple years back to put it up. He said heck yah! He didn't want any secrets. So I put it out there for the world to see on YouTube. In the end, Eddie came up w the counter.
So I appreciate the love in your feedback, but Eddie could have easily said, "No, hide that ish!" Instead, like Bruce Lee, he understood that we all adapt. So he gets the props for being that open minded, and thereby evolving the system!
Sincerely,
Rick
Aww thanks mate ben is kinda my worst case scenarios a guy who is bigger then me so I had to adapt and work Jui claw
Which just gove me some options and trust me all ive done is bitch how sore my groin is for the last couple of days i hope he keeps trainin As for the triforce off muddy waters I showed it to frank in September so ill explain it to you
When your in muddy waters and the arm is in the middle of your stomach or its caught deep In triangle country bite your left leg
(Assuming your doing muddy waters like we did right leg locks the shoulder ) on to your forearm just under your wrist and then slide your legs down towards the left hand slide to tighten it up trust me you won't feel like its on but it's about 30 percent stronger then The regular triangle when done right it requires less effort on the squeeze from you and if you have bad ankles it will save you a lot of pain that's why the guy who showed it to me uses it and then with muddy waters being added I went oh shot that's where it can go
Rick: your "rubber stamp" is very similar to a chiropractic technique that we use to make adjustment for the back...LOL When I first saw your vid, I was like "wtf??" 10thplanet found a way to incorporate Chiropractic techniques now??? LOL
Oh wow I just noticed you posted the video on here Rick... That's sweet. Huge props to you.
You guys are teasing me with all this talk of the new RG pathway... so mean.
Mexican food + Rubber Guard = Muddy Waters.
The secret is out.
Lol Bruce i may have to look into chiropractic work.
But for real, I'll give credit to Mark Munoz for this technique as he showed us the fist technique to freeze your opponent in side control. It inspired me to look at the mechanics of RG, and understand that it would work if I trap the hips from shrimping. That lead to the elbow cinch in the hip. Then another instructor I was under(Joker) taught about not letting their foot get to the hip which meant you had to sit through and come back to both knees to avoid the foot on the hip. And finally, the last resort was an all out assault where I had to omoplata. They know its gonna happen and they see and arm bar in the end. So right when your feet hit the ground from omo plata, you shrimp escape and t-Rex the arm back to you. You're free but it's a scramble.
All these instructors:Mark Munoz, Mike Joker Guymon, Eddie Bravo and Sean Beezy had a hand in inspiring the escape. I'm glad it has come full circle back to the control of the system with the new Path!
The rubber stamp is too legit to quit lol I can't wait to see the new path. Rick taught it to me when he came down a while back and at first I was getting outta everyone's RG, than I showed everyone else and now my RG is gettin shut down, so it'll be nice to see more options and the evolution of the RG! :D
Definitely Anthony. It's still possible to bust the oG path but now it's about trickery and speed. The new path seems to scream, "guess what? You're a gonna get caught!"
All this new terminology makes me feel like I just started learning everything all over again! haha Im reading on and am saying in my head wtf is muddy waters haha. Looks like I gotta make a new edition to the "Ronin Method" List cant wait to see what the new path is all about! Also thanks for the video Rick! Im really the only guy around here who actually uses and understands the RG so Ill have to wait to try it out
