Sorry again, It's just bothering me hearing everyone say that this is going to finally decide who is better. But my brain just wont accept that. I dont even see how them rolling only 1 time after 10 years is even going to prove whos better right at this moment let alone back in 03. Here's my theory. The only way anyone could have know who was better in 2003 is if those two just got together, and rolled for a while, they/we would have know who was better than who. I'm roughly the same age as GSP, I seen the guy when he was 13 and I feel confident that at that time I could have really beat him up, but if we fight now, what does that prove about back then?
Maybe someone will say something that will shift my thinking about this but I'm pretty doubtful, but as long as I'm speaking my mind about the subject I'll add a few more random things.
First to Eddie if you read this. If you weren't good enough to beat Royler the first time then you wouldn't have. He might actually be better than you, but your good enough that you can beat him. No one under a certain skill level is going ever beat him. So your at least that good. If I were to roll with him, and if I were to catch him and tap him, that would be a fluke, that would be me getting lucky, but not you man, the results you got from that performance was a direct result of your abilities. If the only reason that you won is because Royler didn't take you serious enough or whatever, so he didn't roll as hard as he could, and thats the only reason that you won, then you definitely beat him, you didn't get lucky. Everyone knows that the mental side of competing is at least as important as the physical side. The way I see it, he arguably showed up physically more prepared, you showed up more mentally prepared, at least, and you won. I don't know how much any of your friends or students are telling you that it's really meaningless to us if you don't win. I'm not going anywhere win/lose/draw. Actually I just had the thought that if you did lose it might light a fire under your ass and make you work even harder to come up with new shit and speed up the evolution of jj. But anyways we know your not the #1 guy in the world ever and we're cool with that, so with as much pressure as your feeling, please don't carry the weight of what any of us will think about you if you lose, and fuck anyone who likes you now that would ditch you or talk shit if you lost. Also, I don't know how everyone else feels but what your doing for nogi jj is the same thing Helio did for bjj by evolving and adapting the art. I hope nogi starts getting called american jiu-jitsu and you get credit you deserve.
With that being said, royler and eddie are the only ones more excited about this match then me. Past whoever wins I hope this match gives everyone the closure they need so both side can come together and start working towards the same goal of evolving jj. I fucking love seeing Renzo on MTS it'd be cool to see Royler and all the others, and can we start seeing some techniques or something from some of these legends that show up on MTS. Sorry if I beat any dead horses I haven't been lurking much lately.
