So I've posted a bunch of tourney vids, but as yall know during a tourney, especially with Cora, she finishes her matches so fast that you don't get to see what else she has in her game. So I made this video to show yall some of the other things that she is capable of doing. Enjoy.

Do you train too Bruce or is it mostly to help Cora?
Brent: do I look like someone who train?? LOL its just for Cora. I'm her practice dummy. If anything, I've always been a very good practice dummy. We are trying to incorporate more take downs into Cora's game.

How about ME do I look like someone that trains? Jiu-jitsu is for everyone and could help you get in better shape if you wanted. That said, the best thing you could do for Cora’s jiu-jitsu is make sure her functioning head coach (the guy who selects almost all of what she’ll be working on and spends the most time critiquing her) has GOOD TRAINING. That is YOU right now. It’s not Cameron and its not Travis Took. You have a much larger impact on her training than those guys. Look at her game. Outstanding job so far by the way. But I just wanted to put it in that perspective for you. I only keep bothering you about it because I care. You can at least train a bit with us when/if you ever make it down if you like. You wouldn’t consider bringing Cora to a Jiu-jitsu gym where the head coach had never done Jiu-jitsu. Just saying. Best of luck and see you two at NAGA ;)Quote:

and no excuses saying that youre too old. you dont need to compete, but you might as well train. jiu jitsu has helped you this much, let it help you more. :D
and lastly, ive seen much chubbier people than you. not to say you shouldnt train but youre not chubby.

I know you often go back to your injury but people roll with injuries and issues all the time, and if you inform the coaches that you have shoulder issues I am sure they will accommodate. I don't know what your shoulder injury or current abilities are, but I have some experience in that area. I have a torn glenoid labrum, amongst other more minor shoulder issues. It has a tendency to subluxe, which is not an entirely pleasant experience, to say the least. There have been times when I was just standing and talking to someone and it just randomly pops out, which leads to me shaking it back in. The injury has kept me out of training at times. That said, I notice it seems to be most susceptible to subluxation when in a relaxed state. On the mat it has only ever popped out a couple times (through experience I've learned there are a couple arm/shoulder positions that are less stable than others). For the most part, however, I do just fine.
I have done physical therapy, and I have mixed feelings. I believe I may have, at the time, been over working my shoulder, which caused it to feel less stable at times. I did succeed in strengthening the surrounding muscles, however, which was the goal (so that they would hold the arm in socket more effectively). Within a week or so of discontinuing my PT (due to changes at work which made my schedule more variable) is when I really noticed a difference. Now, jits is my PT, it's worked (along with the rest of my body) in ways that are very specific to the sport, allowing the muscles to strengthen and causing greater stability (in my far from medical professional opinion anyway). There may be a day in the future where surgery becomes necessary, but that day is not today~!
Best advice, you know your limitations, so start slow! Over time things will strengthen and you'll notice you can do more.
This is just my experience dealing with my particular shoulder injury, I have no idea what your injury is, so it may not be very helpful for you. I would bet, however, that if you approach it in a controlled manner, start slow, and work your way up, you'll have success! Best of luck either way! Your daughter has a ton of skill, and training yourself will provide you with a far greater ability to help her.
