How do you 10p guys feel about Single Leg X Guard from Marcelo Garcia? Ever hit it?
I like it. Good way to deal with a standing opponent
single leg X is good money. Just be mindful if you're in no reaping competitions. I have a few boys from a MG affiliate who got DQ'd for forced reaps and near reaps. Basically, if a guy turns away to get out, trying to retain the position can make it look like you're reaping when you're not. Otherwise, it's a great position. It's not a go to of mine, but I like to transition to it if I'm failing a leg lock from the bottom. I only really know like 2 sweeps from there though. Haha.
It sure as hell works for Marcelo. Of I forgot. Everything works for Marcelo. Nevermind...

I use it all the time. Really great option to have in the arsenal.
Absolutely, its part of my Reaper series from x-guard/single leg x.
I love it
Cool - I really like it too. There's basically only one sweep I know from there - the regular Single X takedown, but you can augment it by grabbing the other foot. Real easy to switch to full X Guard there as well so you can add in all those sweeps too.
Going for the straight ankle lock is always an option once you've got the position too. Heel hook can't be far away either.
It's also a really good position to control the opponent with - I find they don't know what to do when you're clamped on their leg like that.
The knee reap thing worries me though - feel like you only need to slip a little bit to get DQ.
I use it all the time!!!
Personal favorite display of single leg X:

MG hits it multiple times.
I'm trying to add it to my game, but of course now I hear it's considered reaping the knee. Still gonna keep practicing it, I love all of Marcelo's stuff.
Im still getting the petcentages up on it but I Love it... love everything about it
Not in IBJJF. I laugh just thinking about it, but it's like the Gracie lineage has been anti leg locks since Fadda showed them up over 50 years ago. And honestly, reaping the knee is just the best way to execute leg locks. They know that. I've been reaping knees before I hit the 6th month in my training and I've NEVER injured anyone. Why? Competent teaching. It's not rocket science. If reaping were that dangerous, 90% of SAMBO competitors would be crippled, don't you think?
Imagine if the IBJJF said, armbars are legal but you can't put two legs across the body. Now imagine they made that rule because some local school came to a Barra school and tapped everyone via spiderweb. That's kinda how I see BJJ's negligence of leg locks and "fear" of reaping.
IBJJF will never lift the reaping rule.
