Great vid! Damn, I gotta train with that guy before I die.
Thats awesome Ric! Is the class always a gi class?
Marcelo has Advanced No-Gi classes on Tues Weds and Thurs both in the afternoon and at night and also on Fri mornings.
The only "Expert" class on his schedule is gi on Monday nights.
These descriptions of Advanced and Expert are below and they sound similar to me but I've never trained there.
Advanced
Take a more in-depth look at the principles and techniques that define Marcelo’s efficient and exciting style. Students should have a solid understanding of basic BJJ principles, fluency in technique, and body awareness. Situation attacks, transitions, escapes and strategies are explored, in addition to a strong emphasis on instinctual application through live sparring.
Expert
This Class will focus on taking the most advanced students to the next level. Fluidity of movement, high level transitions and offensive strategy will be introduced and practiced within the context of Marcelo’s game. Progressive drilling patterns and intense sparring will be at the heart of this class. Purple Belts and above only.
Cool! Thanks for the reply! :)
Awesome vid Ric.
Thanks for the kind words guys. The Expert class is indeed, Gi only. Its different from the Advanced class though because the guys really do turn it up in the rolling and in their sincerity in which they train in that class. While many students at the academy take 2 classes back to back, few seem to do that with the Expert class. They show up like an hour early and stretch and talk and wait for the Expert class to begin.
Cool Ric! How long have you been training? I've seen you on the forum for several years now, it seems. You think you're close to getting your purple belt!? haha
I hope not. Purple is rather intense at Marcelo's :D
Nice video Ric! :)
