We've been working the baratoplata from all positions and finding tons of ways to work it into the game. It's a PERFECT compliment and addition to our system. The baratoplata is a serious legit technique that Rafael Freitas developed and has hit numerous times in high level BJJ, no-gi and even MMA. This is one option that is NOT on Rafaels dvds. Eddie loved it and approved...enjoy.

This is a great move. Duda's can be difficult to finish on low weight classes, especially if they have a high pain tolerance. The baratoplata is a shoulder lock, and that works no matter what bodytype or how tough they are. Me likey!
I know in reality TUF is over, but we are all supporting you Jess! I'm sure it was an experience and opportunity of a lifetime! Training with all those legends of women's mma, and also making a name for yourself. No matter what happens on TUF, I'm sure you have a bright future in the sport!

Very Cool technique and transition! I'm gunna play with this, I use the Duda game alot and this will work right in with the 2 on 1 guard I've been spending alot of time on.

Coach Zog's duda game is a killer. It pretty much comes out of nowhere.
I like the point that this is a competition legal move. So it's great for duda players who can't bicep slice. Great contribution Mr. Elliot! Can't wait to try this out.

Question: what exactly is keeping them from extending their trapped arm in either the duda or baratoplata? Are you keeping pressure on it with your left hand like its a deep hook during spiderweb? Also, has anyone found that they go for this series even if they could get the full zombie to NY to double bagger etc?

Spent a couple of hours research the move and got many more vids to show variations of this move. All basically have the same idea but different set up from the mount, the back control, guard, failed triangles.... all the same, great move. Spend 30 minutes drilling with Cora yesterday before she go to the gym. We only drill from the mount as she can't be on her back, and she actually pulled it off at the gym. Kids were confused, coach were confused....LOL Its in the tool bag now...:)

I have been working this since I saw Rafaels video explain it and it is really effective.. I like the way Scott explains it here to, very good detail to the positions.. I think this is a realy good addition to the 10p.. Good work Scott..

Its pretty damn near impossible to extend your arm because of the fact if youre in either submission your hand is stick down there near the taint. If it wasnt there then I can see you extending your arm and being fine. I think thats what youre asking.Quote:

Yep, the reverse kimura is excellent for getting the duda as well as triangles and more. The episode you speak of is #46 with Shawn Williams showing how to get the hand to the mat.
