Says he wouldn't respond to any of the organizations messages. Dude just dipped on adcc.
He wasn't taking there calls before his ufc fight the word was already out on this.
The article makes it sound like this all came about after the ufc fight but they said he was out and not returning calls here: http://www.openmatradio.com/2013/10/...eakdown-wjsho/ recorded before the ufc fight.
lol. Dude is digging his own grave. I mean dude, your heel hook ain't million dollars per year worthy. That's all you got. You gotta milk that not burn bridges as if everyone is gonna come knocking down your door to see you hold subs too long. Sadly, I can kind of see the future for this guy and it involved death or prison.
He can't teach. He'll run out of students to injure quick.
He can't make good money fighting. Nobody's gonna want him.
Grappling matches? Hmmmm. I can see him getting black listed after too many incidents.
Then what?
He has no career skills and I doubt he's gonna be happy working a construction job for peanuts.
I don't think it's gonna turn out well for him.
Whats the difference between how Ronda Rousey wins and how Palhares wins?
Seriously both have crazy finishing moves and both continually break there opponents limbs, i see no difference in situation except ronda has a viagina and is a hero for repeatedly breaking peoples arms.
Palhares let go of his last heal hook in 1.0x seconds. Your taught to drive 4 car lengths behind people so you have 4 seconds to react to there actions. He let go as soon as the ref jumped in, anyone who has been robbed at a tournament knows the value of that.
I think he is a fool for dropping out of adcc and giving up a chance most people would kill for.
I am leaving my opinion of the Pierce fight out of this and am looking at this from a PROMOTER'S Perspective.
Keep in mind that he was cut from ADCC BEFORE the fight with Pierce.
When you are putting together a project/event (whether it be a Jiu-Jitsu Tournament or Indy Film) SILENCE is a very scary thing. When you don't hear back from someone (for an extended period of time), you have to just assume that they are OUT and move on.
I can guarantee that the reason why they are making it look like Palhares was cut AFTER the UFC Fight... is because it is a hot topic of discussion... and they want to generate more attention to the ADCC Fights. The headlines you see is all apart of a WELL THOUGHT OUT marketing scheme... and we're talking about it.... so they are doing something right.
Ronda lets go when people tap. That's the difference. Palhares doesn't. That video of the 1.08 seconds is deceptive. Let's also point out that a dislocated elbow and a destroyed knee are entirely different injuries. One heals quick. The other can be career ending/altering.
The similarities end at the fact that they use submissions and break limbs.
To be more specific, they refuse to tap so she pops their elbow. In one case, an opponent fake tapped and Ronda stopped cranking. But she held on to it, and when the ref didn't stop it, THEN she continued to crank again and the person tapped more convincingly. That's a huge difference between cranking, feeling the tap, cranking harder, having a ref jump on you, and cranking harder to get one more second of pain in.
Yep the results are in: yes, its unanimous. He is an idiot.
Yes!^
Ryan maybe you need to rewatch those fights they're no way similar. When Ronda's opponents tap she lets go immediately!
All this Paul Harris is innocent crap is like the crying mother on the news telling everybody her baby boy is good boy, he's just a angel and the police killed him. Yet, he's been arrested 30 times and he was shooting at the police. lol
Lol If you need 4 seconds of reaction time to put your foot on the brake you have no business driving. Your talking about factoring in stopping 3000 plus pound vehicle at high rate of speed and accounting for mechanical lag. I'm not sure what they are teaching drivers in Canada but I have never heard of a 4 car length rule. You might be referring to a "2 second rule" but stopping distance depends on your speed 4 car lengths would be excessive at a rate of 20 mph. Why do they tell you to increase the distance in wet conditions, dose the human reaction time slow down when it's raining? Your analogy fails on so many levels.

My post from the other thread since the debate has resurfaced here.
well i hope he does metamoris, alan belcher challenged him on twitter and metamoris said that there are interested and they will get a hold of him.
https://twitter.com/alanbelcherufc
Isn't Belcher in adcc this year?
Palhares was never in. Don't believe what they say. They reported him out 2-3 months ago
"Latest word from the ADCC Committee has Rousimar "Toquinho" Palhares out of ADCC 2013. "Toquinho" was considered one of the favorites to take the U88KG division but apparently has gone AWOL and has not responded to any contacts from the competition. The Committee has already lined up a super worthy replacement for his spot."

he was invited, i dont know what happened, he doesnt seem to be in china right now. I'll ask him, he responds to email and twitter quickly.
Ive had a tough semester, havent kept up with stuff like normal, still havent seen glory 11.
Actually, palhares was 100% in. He was invited immediately after last years event since he took 2nd place. He confirmed and even was shaky about the Pierce fight because of it. It came down to priorities in the end. That's why he said adcc would have to sit backseat to his fight and that's why he waited to confirm a 2nd time.
Well its all opinion you guys choose to think he is a physcopath who gets thrills out of other peoples pain, i think 100% of his opponents would be injured if that were the case
His story was he thought the first tap was a punch so he cranked harder, i didnt notice him crank again after the ref jumped in... There is no way to prove his statement true or false
He was cut because he was unpopular if gsp started breaking heels people would just be excited he was finishing
As for the armbar vs heel hook argument, thats the same one i hear as to why neck cranks shouldnt be legal
Its all opinion and speculation
But to the point of the thread he is a fool for dropping out of adcc
Maybe he can fight in nick diaz promotions lol
I thought he was popular, idk (another faggy expression) im always out of touch with most mma fans, I cant belive TUF is what made the ufc popular, other than last season and jesamyn being on this season i fucking hate the bullshit reailty tv. Seems most fans want big guys trying to knock each other out, i couldnt care less about cain "dumbass tattoo" velasquez and dos santos, Even eddie says he wants to see violence and injury, i want to see highly skilled martial artist fight intelligent fights. I also thought most people hate gsp (and machida) shows what i know about the average mma fan.
thought the first tap was a punch? speechless.
100% of his opponents would be injured if he had his way.
His story is ridiculous. Even his former coach confirmed that he has a habit of injuring people. No way to prove him wrong, but plenty of evidence to suggest Palhares is full of BS.
He was cut because he was a liability. Any fans of GSP are fans because of his martial arts spirit. If he started pulling Palhares antics, he'd lose fans, get fined and suspended. That's cuz he's champ. If a non champ, say Wand, started doing it, no doubt he'd get cut too. Liabilities are bad for the sport and bad for business.
As for the armbar heel hook argument, it's more than speculation. Knee injuries are worse and require more rehab. Miesha Tate got her whole elbow dislocated and didn't even need a cast. Meanwhile Dominic Cruz blows his knee and is out for two years. This would lead to a logical conclusion that heel hooks are more dangerous than armbars.
It's waaaay more than opinion and speculation when facts and evidence are present.
i agree with you dude i jsut want to point out that dominic also ahd a failed surgery and thts why he has been out for so long. cat zingano or gsp himself might be better examples.
to ryan its the fact that there arnt any pain receptors (or at msot only a few) that makes it so dangerous, because you dont feel it in the knee first but thats what goes first and why it gets damged more. i know youre probably aware of that but no one seems to have brought it up.
i myself have been out for almost three months because my knee was on the way to being torn (so loose, it wouldve torn if i wasnt careful)
and i dont think wanderlei would e cut right away. thing is in this case that palhares is a repeat offender, added into intent and its the fact that he cranked after the ref stopped it. 2 times in the ufc and once in adcc.
and as far as teh he thought pierce was punchign him not tapping. i also heard him give his side fo story but he said that the ref was stopping pierce from holding the fence when he put the submission on and because pierce ahd jsut gotten out of the sub before that he knew he had to hold it tight and then he said that pierce tapped the ref and not palhares but by then pierce ahd tapped palhares more than 3 times on his leg and the ref had gone from one side of the cage (stopping pierce from holding the cage to palhares' other side and fallen on palhares and grabbed his arms to stop the sub. swiss cheese has less holes in it thatn that story.
and with ronda i think its more the fact that once she gets the armbar, youre probly not gunna get out of it, shes shown that shes got control, she cranks it hard but stops when shes meant to, thats skill not being a roided up idiot.
