Uriah Hall punching Mayhem Miller following Miller's repeated use of a racial slur

The story of Jason Miller and Uriah Hall getting into an altercation at a recent BAMMA event was big news last week. Reports from the scene said that Mayhem had repeatedly said something along the lines of "bitch ass nigga" to Hall repeatedly, eventually resulting in Hall taking a swing that did not fully connect.

A short, 34 second video of the encounter has now surfaced and shows Mayhem holding up his middle fingers, yelling "bitch nigga," "fuck you, bitch nigga" and going to say it a third time when Hall lunges forward and throws a punch. The crowd quickly separates the two as Miller tries to rush forward.

After the first use of a racial slur* you can hear someone in the mass of people let loose with a "WHAT?!"

Miller has a documented history of mental illness, we all know that. It's fine and good to say that he needs help. But it's also entirely fair to say that he might also just kind of be a bad guy.

The video by MMA Interviews has the following description:

The scene begins with Jason "Mayhem" Miller being aggressive to a woman who is apparently his ex girlfriend who he has allegedly assaulted in the recent past. She was visibly emotional and upset and he continued to yell at her. Uriah Hall poked his head in the situation and instantly Miller turned his aggression to him. He began with continuous rants of, "N**** please." Then the video starts and you see the rest.

* Sorry, people who want to dispute it. A white man using any variation of "the n-word" in a derogatory way toward a black man is racist. If you're choosing to yell it at a black man during a fight, there's a point to using it beyond 'it's just a word.' You're choosing it over the myriad other words in your vocabulary and you're choosing it because of the emotional impact/reaction it will stir.

This really is a shame. Mayhem always seemed like a nice guy at heart, but he just can't seem to keep himself on the straight and narrow for too long before he does something ridiculous and stupid. I really hope someone can help the guy get back to normal (or at least normal by his standards).

Mayhem needs to be put on medication... PERIOD!

I always loved Mayhem well before the bully beatdown days loved his eccentric ways and grappling but he has just lost it. Either hes losing a battle with drugs or hes just off his rocker either way i hope someday we hear from a normal mayhem about these bad times and how he came back from it.

i think we need to stop looking at celebrities and allowing them to get away with atrocious behaviour , or at least with less consequences just because they are famous. stop giving them so much media attention for it. in saying that miller is only famous for losing fights and crimes and not even any of that was done well.

if he abuses his ex and starts fights and breaks into churches etc, throw him in jail. put him throw the system. supernanny always says that punishments dont work if you dont use them properly.

I guess he really is suicidle now...of the black people I would never say that word too, Uriah Hall is pretty fucking up their on that list. I met Mayhem in person right after he beat Sakuraba. He was really friendly and seemed under control. Maybe getting cut really fucked him mentally.

When will these fuckers get treated the same as normal people. If that was me stood there calling Uriah a bitch nigga I would have got jumped on by everybody in the venue and completely shunned from the community - and rightly so. Instead we have all these people feeling sorry for Mayhem like he isn't responsible at all for his actions.
The dude is a racist fucker. I used to be a big Mayhem fan too. :(

There's eccentric - Mayhem Monkey days, pre Bully Beatdown- then there's piece of shit human being. I've officially gone off the "eccentric" excuse for him bandwagon. He needs professional help and if that doesn't work then he needs isolation from society. I also met him after his fight with Tim Kennedy (had a fighter on that card and we all had dinner at the after party) and he was intense but pretty nice to everyone. It's a shame, but there's no excuse for what he's doing these days. I second what David said about how someday I hope he recovers and give us clarity on the snap...

I don't know his whole life story, but I know a little bit based on a few interviews he's conducted. He's always been this crazy. Constant training did balance him out.

I mean he went from the type of guy that would have full blown fist fights with his father and being poor to getting a show on MTV and being a lovable character and making a good living off of MMA. That was the power of training in his life. I'm sure he still trains. But I think getting cut after getting wrestlefucked just really dragged his soul down and he probably doesn't have the right people around him to help him back to his feet. Without that goal of the belt.

Someone needs to tell him, even without that gold strap you can still be the people's champ. Look at Wand. He's gonna have a die hard fan base forever. He could've been a people's champ kind of guy. But instead he's just reverting to being a piece of trash.

And being on his MEDS. I remember a article on him (a long time ago) were he talked about getting on the right meds and how much it helped him.

ah that makes sense. Meds help balance the chems in your brain. But lifestyle is still the biggest factor. I speak from experience. Pills don't kill your demons. They just give you a chance to have a more level head. But in the end, you have to kill your own demons.

I just landed a part time gig as a contract writer for BJPenn.com and the editor lives down the street from Mayhem and says that there's more to the story. They seem to think that the MMA world is sort of demonizing him, which could be the case but who knows for sure. I might be writing a story to counter-point what happened and possibly get some more details. Not sure yet, but we'll see.

Bottom line, he said what he said. There's nothing to counterpoint. "Uriah peed on his shoe." Still not ok. "Uriah was bragging with photo evidence of how he slept with Mayhem's mom." Still not ok. Don't dig yourself a hole by trying to excuse inexcusable behavior.

I'm not trying to excuse him by any means. What he did was certainly demeaning and wrong, I agree. I'm talking more about his behavior in general, as in is he crazy, is there a medical diagnosis, or is there some personal problems that's resulting in all this strange behavior? Also, how much of a twist does the media in MMA put on things? For instance, everyone said he broke into a church and got naked. He said in another interview that he had known the preacher and had spent the night in the church and that he wasn't completely naked. I'm not giving the dude a pass on anything, I'm just saying that it would be a change-up to hear him try to explain some of these events. Not giving the guy a pardon in any manner.

Miller is a smart guy. He can't make it to the top with his skill, so he keeps himself relevant by acting crazy. No publicity is bad publicity.

Uriah Hall Tells His Side of the Story on Recent Scuffle with Mayhem Miller

Thinking that he was just out to show his support for a teammate, UFC fighter Uriah Hall ended up in an unintended scuffle of his own at the Oct. 25 BAMMA USA Beatdown 11 event.

The initial reports were simply that UFC’s Uriah Hall had taken a swing at Jason “Mayhem” Miller, as he taunted Hall while yelling racially laden taunts. Hall, however, told MMAWeekly.com how things occurred from his perspective.

Hall attended the BAMMA USA event to support fellow Reign MMA fighter Rachael Cummins. He was approached by the promoters to go into the ring and be recognized alongside other celebrities in attendance. This included Miller.

As he was making his way to the ring, he came up to a group of Reign MMA’s athletes who were huddled around a female.

“It was like they were protecting her,” Hall recalled. Uriah approached to check on the situation, and that is when Mayhem made his presence known.

“Initially, I saw a big bald-headed dude. Then it hit me that it was Mayhem Miller. I was a little star struck, at first,” said Hall. “He was yelling at me though, and wanted to talk to the girl. I guess it was his ex. I tried to stay calm and just diffuse things. I was still kind of shocked that it was all happening.”

The yelling from Miller attracted the attention of several onlookers, including security guards. Hall said that once security got there, Miller’s aggression escalated. As a video put out by MMAInterviews.tv’s Spencer Lazara shows, Mayhem continued to yelling, getting more aggressive in his tone, which led to the eventual swing from Hall.

“I think I just barely clipped him,” he recalled.

Security quickly removed both Hall and Miller from the event floor, but it didn’t end at that point. Hall admitted to later looking for Miller in the casino, until his anger subsided. He later apologized to security. Meanwhile, Miller took to his phone tweeting and texting more racially charged comments to Hall.

“I don’t know how he got my number,” said Hall. “I asked and his response was, ‘I am Mayhem Miller, I know everything.’”

Hall was back in training Saturday morning, and considered the incident to be behind him. He says genuinely, “I feel sorry for him. I hope he gets the help that he needs before it gets worse.”

Hall is hopeful that fans and media would shift their focus to his upcoming fight against Chris Leben at UFC 168, and would like to leave this incident in his past.

Thus far, the UFC has taken no action over the incident, and told MMAWeekly.com that they have no comment.

Gotcha. The media may exaggerate some things, but even reality makes him look bad. That's the sad part.
