NAGA Tennessee Gold Medal (Video)! Thanks to everyone that helped me out!!!

So… they changed venues for this event after I already had a flight booked into Nashville, TN…. So now I had to get to Memphis, TN to compete and back to Nashville in time for the flight home. Travel options did not look very… um. Cooperative…

Thanks to Brandon Mccaghren for the heads up that Eddie knew people there, Eddie Bravo for hooking things up, Ed Clay (Nashville MMA) for making sure someone finds a ride for me, Shawn Hammonds (Nashville MMA) for finding a ride for me, Kenny Cross and Tricia Michelle for giving me the ride and a place to stay as well as being a great people in general and Nicholle Stoller for filming my match and being cool!!!

Did you check the website for me or something lol? Yeah, I haven’t told anyone yet, but according to RANKED, I’m the number 1 adult No-Gi competitor for 2013 right now :) Hopefully I’ll finish the year that way and get the certificate to hang at our School!

I'll probably catch some flack for asking, but wasn't that a knee reap? I've only ever competed in IBJJF tournaments, so please forgive my ignorance of NAGA rules. Good fight bro

Yes it was reaping. It's legal in NAGA under the no gi rules. NAGA gi rules prohibit reaping. No flack bro. We're good people as long as you're respectful. Now if you're gonna claim reaping is dirty, you can take that somewhere else. Reaping holds a special place in my heart. Haha. :)

Yeah not IBJJF so NAGA does different rules. Pretty much everything is legal in the Expert division.

Yes this is a “knee reap” according to IBJJF. Then again, so is the other position Brent smith was sharing earlier which didn’t affect the knee at all. Knee reaping was legal here AS WAS HEEL HOOKS if I wanted to do one.

But despite that, when I talked to him afterword, he ONLY FELT IT IN HIS ANCLE. The “knee reap” really shouldn’t even be called that because the move is actually more about taking the hips out of play than it is about directly effecting the knee…. That’s IBJJF stuff.

I also feel like “IBJJF style” leg locks are “wrong” and I prefer to simply not do them in that rule set rather than devolve my grappling game. Just my opinion…
