Awesome!
The actual close-up footage of the bok bok bok bok boking was the best bit for me. What a guy.
Simply outstanding!!
Another great find by Mr Labarge
Awesome video. Kinda disappointed they didn't actually show the truck, but dope video nonetheless.
Adcc is dominated by lower body attacks. Kron got zero. Best clinch in jj, among active competitors. Def top 5 players in the world. Love his style.
Kron is one my favorite competitors to watch because he's always pressing the action and looking for subs but does anyone feel like this a step backwards for modern jiu jitsu? Kron is purely old school basics and just won at the highest level. Now a bunch of old school black belts are coming out harder and claiming you don't need an open guard, berimbolo's are ruining BJJ, helio gracie is the way etc...
I agree, basics are essential and the foundation of the advanced moves. However my point was more about how those old school instructors that don't even know what a de la riva is, are even less likely to become any more open minded to modern moves like berimbolos and even rubber guard because of this win by Kron.
yeti for white belts.
I wouldn't call it a step backwards, maybe some guys will use it rationalize not incorporating, what are perceived as (or are), more modern technique/styles. That's probably true but those guys dont need justification anyway. That would be more of a lack of progress than a regression imo.
It may also get some people to value the more traditional style (basics) as part of their complete BJJ breakfast.
Its all just grappling. The only two categories are effective and not effective. Period.
I like what your saying but you can tell a difference in the two "styles" we're discussing here, right?
What would be an example of "not effective", tickling? :)
Yes. Tickling would be filed under noneffective.
are Indian burns allowed in ibjjf?
