Thanks for sharing!
Thank you sir
Bookmarking. Dammit. Now I want to go home early so I can watch this.
Just the other day I found a vid using the ghost to counter the knee slice pass. I was going to ask if you and your guys are using the ghost like that. Had trouble with it while rolling. Now I see it helps for you to be on your side if they are smashing their weight down on you and not postured up
Love ghost escapes!! Gonna try this one tonight!
Love the TWIR! Thanks for another insightful episode :)
Solid instruction, very well explained. Thanks.
Thanks Chris, love it!
TWIR rocks!
Niccce.
Pretty slick
Like it
Excellent thank you
Im guessing these tricks can be learned at low cost, low risk seminars :) Instructional videos on tips and tricks to assist with getting techniques, transitions, and movements to work better would be interesting. I guess like "BJJ Scout" or "Fix your BJJ" youtube channels but 10th planet version
Thank you again Coach Herzog.
Any chance we can get a thread with all the TWIR stickied?
I think Sean has an actual webpage with them all.
Herzog, you're such an excellent instructor.
thanks chris
Cool looking triangle, but terribly low-percentage.
You need an understanding of how Coach Herzog does techniques. Watch the video and the control that he maintains. The devil is in the details, Coach doesn't show much "low-percentage" techniques if any. If you are trying to do it and can't then you are prolly missing a key detail, and if you have not tried it you have no validation in your theory.
I think your missing the point of the attack. the goal is to escape side control and threatin with the triangle. if you get the triangle great, if they defend it your still out of side control bottom. Finishing percentage depends on the person doing the escape/triangle. I always rep a new tech before I comment on it, to me I dont really know if its gonna for me until I rep it out a bunch. How can I say if its low or high percentage without ever trying it?
Your comment alone tells me you have never done the technique, more importantly with success. So I'm under absolutely no obligation to even address your comment. However I do enjoy putting people in their place when they open their mouth and speak on something in which they don't understand.
It is not low percentage and here is why.
1) The Ghost series itself is super high percentage. I have yet to date have anyone able to hold me down in a traditional side control that I could not Ghost out of.
2)There is an entire series of techniques and transitions(taking the back, m'arce, D'arce, sprawl control, butterfly guard and open guard) that build off the counters they will try during the escape itself, developing those alone will increase your percentages of finishing the triangle, because they have to worry about those as well.
3)Lets just talk about the triangle alone and why I know you have never done it LIVE. One word, "Pressure". If there is none, I don't Ghost out. The name the Ghost comes from disappearing out from underneath them (I had a student once say it felt like I vanished from underneath them, hence the the name was born). So back to pressure, once I Ghost out they either fall flat on their face or they have to base out. Either is fine with me, most people that have grappled longer than a few months will base. If they do by chance "answer the phone" (which only solves one problem), I can stuff triangle, pull guard, still hit a m'arce, etc. Also to point out, home aloning vs a triangle is a very low pertange defense against triangle, and very unlikely to work against a really good triangle, especially if they have killer leg curls. However the main point, they never passed my Quarter Guard.
Now be quiet when the grown ups are talking.
Beautiful.
No. I haven't rep'd it LIVE. I clicked on the thread, watched the video, and commented. I doubt anyone else ran down to the gym and put in reps before they gave you their accolades either.
You took my post as criticism, but that was not my intent. Not all techniques are high percentage, Chris, it's not a big deal. In fact, the trend seems to be that the flashier the technique the lower percentage it is. You yourself said "I have to beat that far arm before he recognizes what's happening to him." at 2:16 in the video. I pointed out the exact same thing. What's the problem? There's no need to start posturing.
Lately, I've noticed you have been responding extremely poorly to newer forum members or posts that you deem silly. You talk down to them, degrade them, attack them, etc. As a forum administrator, you should be discouraging this type of behaviour, not instigating it. As a 10P Brown Belt and Head Instructor, you are an ambassador of the 10th Planet System and representative of it members. This is not how an ambassador should act.
It has become apparent that you have some anger issues, Zog. I think you need to drink some ayahuasca or go lay in a float tank for a while and work some shit out.
I'm sure I'll catch a lot of flack for this post, but somebody had to say it.
So what your saying is I'm right, thank you. You have done it zero times so your input on the technique is mute. I've been Ghosting for over 15 years, well over 10,000 reps in the technique. On any given week I hit it 20+ times in rolling. I know the technique inside and out, its strength and its weaknesses. There are very few techniques I would claim to be "Great" at. The Ghost is one of them.
I said you had to beat the arm, because it is on the mat, not because he was "answering the phone" However I all ready explained that, and again you have never done it, so I don't expect you to understand.
And who have I talked down to? Name one person I have attacked on the forum.
You? because you made an uninformed judgment? Couldn't guess as into a reason why I would respond to that.
As for me being a mod and representative of the system I would take that up with the boss. Because he is 100% in support of how I carry myself on the forum, in the system and otherwise. How do I know? Because he told me himself, he actually likes that I'm me and how I act. I don't take shit, and I'm not afraid to call people on their bullshit. It's called check and balances. You don't have to like it, most people who post nonsense and get called on it won't.
You know ive always felt blue belts can be the worst, (not all of course not trying to generalize) for one Ive seen quite a few blues feel superior just cause they passed that white belt and think they know everything but in reality a blue belt is equivalent to a baby that just started to "learn" to walk , and not even properly still wobbly leg and all. I dont how many times ive seen blue belts on forums or real life argue against higher belts, quite amusing ( and the amount of people to question herzog is enough to write a book lol you even compete bro) .
oo and maybe its not the move thats low percentage but the persons technique who cant land it thats low.Just my 2 pennies
They seem to be mostly from Canada. Always thought Canadians seemed like whiney bitches and they have been confirming it on here lately. One of the reasons I can't stand south fl, none of the fuckers can drive and they flock here every year. Stopping in the middle of the road and shit bc they have no fuckin idea where they are going and think it's just them on the road or they own it or some shit. Bunch a fuckin ra tards:cool:
I guarantee this thread going to hit 5000 view. I love it keep coming
