Brandon: thank you for this video buddy. I was almost giving up on the Carni. You see, there has been a few times that Cora had tried the Carni in competition. But I guess kids are more flexible than adults. They seem to get out of everyone of her attempt, just the way you describe it on this video. But according to this video, I think it will work for her. We will try it and report back to you. Thanks again.
Dude, Cora will have a field day with this.
The problem with this is that it comes from a bad position. You don't really want to be there getting your butterfly stuffed through to the other side. But it happens sometimes, and it's good to have some money options when it does. This is a home run for me. I will let guys "pass my guard" just to set it up.
I have other setups that work well for me, but I haven't really figured out a good way to teach them yet. They're still kinda under development, so I'll be interested to see anything anyone else comes up with.
Good luck and keep me posted with her progress.
First, this is friggin brilliant. Thanks for sharing. Going straight into my meat hook game. I love the shenenay (sp?).
Whys it called the oprah though?
Seriously though, I love how much 10th planet just shares. No email blasts to buy a new DVD or pay for a web subscription. Just " hey this works and I want you guys to get better so here it is."
Thanks again Brandon.
Awesome carni's back in business , I like the the idea of preventing them from rolling but maybe you also have something for if they somehow stuff the right leg and sort of pass but the chill dog to kung fu still in place like in this Conor huen match at 2:35
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh-qkDXdZWA
is there a possibility for a sweep or something, I've been in this position quite a few times but not much success I think even eddie said theres nothing but Idk maybe somebody out there has an option (btw still think conor huens one of the toughtest SOB's out there )
Thanks Brandon: Although right now we are focusing a lot on pass prevention and guard retention, the reality is that her guard will always going to be pass and trying to catch these speedy kids will be hard. So I can see with this technique, at least she can still do something else once they have stuffed her leg. And all that you have described in your video on how they smashed on you to prevent you from going into some sort of kung fu. Well its happening to her also. So with the "shen nay nay" LOL, I think she will be able to kung fu through now. And that little detail about lifting your hip up to put more shoulder pressure is GOLDEN.
Low percentage move ;)
Will be trying this next class
wicked! thanks for the share/post.
Very cool will play with it.
Don't forget, you must be wearing britches for this move to work...
Amazing
Damn it BMc this is awesome and gonna kill my escapes lol. Anytime Tyler pulls Rubberguard on me I immediately start trying to stuff the leg and roll out before he can carni me, does not always work for me it's low-percentage, now I gotta find another route:cool:
Nice video!
Love Shanaenae!!! Thanks for sharing!
I already said this on Facebook but it would be remiss not to include it in the forum. I've played with a similar position in the past but I was inconsistent with the finishes. Elevating the hips is the most important detail I was missing.
This is a great move to look for from the butterfly, specifically from the cocoon, or even from a scramble if you can grab an overhook.
I like to start off with a butterfly guard and go straight to the Carney but the Oprah is definitely a better option.
has anyone tried the shanaynay from new york? as an alternative to kung fu? for that matter, could it work from london?
I was playing with this last night and most of the time a simple crowbar worked. But then someone stacked me just the right way and I needed the shaynaynay - and it worked like a charm.
I would stick with the kung fu from New York because it allows you to clear the head and still hug the knee. If you are having trouble with the kung fu move, flare your elbow out to push their chin away from your body - that will make the space you need.
Yeah ive played with the shanaynay a bit and I found clearing the head the regular way more natural for me at least. I bet there are times when it would work well to use it like the situation Scottross used as an example though
Great options, love seeing everyone working together to evolve the system ;)
Oh no you didn't..
yeah i tried it yesterday as well and found it worked alright. but the omaplata felt more natural than the gogoplata. what i was thinking and it worked well on my dummy this morning, :) was using it from new york crackhead. you can use your free arm to keep more control over the pumped arm and still bring the foot over etc. im lacking human training partners/test subjects at the moment so i cant really go further than that. but if nothing else theres something else in our arsenals if kung fu move isnt working.
and i was pushing my shoulder through with my arm and that seemed to cut down on the space that the opponent had to move his zombied arm.
could also be good in mma when they are throwing punches. i can see someone being stacked and being able to get a gogoplata while blocking punches.
its all jsut food for thought
sharing the knowledge, that's how 10 do
I use the same finish position when guys try to are using judo side on me ... cant keep my elbow off the mat, when they go to switch back to reg side I slide in and carni from there :)
