Agree, was great seeing the rubber guard
Yea that was awesome. Hit hit the zombie and trans. to crackhead control didn't he?
I was shocked. I heard John Crouch was one of the biggest 10P haters of all time. Can anyone confirm Crouch's opinion on 10P and/or does anyone know who works with Ben on RG?
His squeeze didn't seem too tight though, right? Dude just kind of shimmied out of his rubber guard...... Maybe just too slippery?
I'll admit, I got pretty stoked.
im sitting watching and thinking damn i dont like benson henderson but thats actually decent rubberguard. and damn hes going for muddy waters and all the people around me can say is, that has to be the gayest thing ive seen in mma.
oh the life of a ronin
He sure was effective with the rg. Both guys were good grapplers and the decision was very close
I don't remember seeing muddy waters but crackhead for sure
Squeeze issues and not battle ready looks a lot like that but yeah I was kind of shocked to be honest. He never hugged the knee at all. I loved his elbows. Muddy waters? I think not.
Can you imagine, with those tree trunk legs of his, what he could develop if he put in some big numbers??
He would finish fights off his back!! And it would make me very happy!
just to make it clear, i wasnt saying he had muddy waters, just that stating how he was starting the path towards it, ie NYC.
i was just happy that he didnt use shitty mission control let alone NYC
He got the zombie fairly easily, I wonder why he didn't transition to something else. Seemed like Josh didn't really know what was going on.
it was glorious haha
I used to train at the lab with John/Ben and if I'd ever pull rubber guard he'd never say anything negative. But then again it was when I still reeaallyy sucked at it, so he probably saw how bad I was doing with it and figured i was learning my lesson first hand.
Everyone keeps saying "weak squeeze" or something similar. I respectfully disagree. Ben Henderson is one of the strongest and best athletes at 155... He didn't have squeeze issues or weak leg curls...guy might have heavyweight strength legs.. No joke. He had a bad angle. Ben was flat or even on the wrong angle/hip the whole time. He wasn't too weak, his angle was too weak. Also, josh Thompson is no punk! (Pun intended)
Toney ferguson said on Twitter that he used the double bagger... I was like I though that was crack head control. I'll have to look up what that is again. U can't find much on YouTube with 10 p terminology unfortunately.
He definitely looked pretty comfortable playing it. He is for damn sure looking seriously into it. He's still not out of the woods yet. Dudes at his level of RG have given up on it before. Just because someone has oak tree legs doesn't mean they have the proper RG squeeze on auto pilot 24/7. I would love to work with him for 30 minutes, that might be all I would need to get him hooked :)
