Haters are EVERYWHERE!!!

So yesterday a friend of mine on FB posted asking for recommendation to some of the best Jiu Jitsu websites that she can learn from. Others give their input so of course I put mine. And of course I refer her to here, 10thplanet. All I did was just tell her how we benefit from 10thplanet. She herself has witnessed Cora in action using mostly 10thplanet jiu jitsu. Not a minute go by before the 10thplanet haters come out. I try to keep my cool and have a mature conversation but oh man it was so hard as the hatred was fierce. I feel like I was being rape by these fools. Anyone know of a guy name Dan Halpin? He said he used to be a 10thplanet junkie before he see the light. And by the sound of things, he's has gone 180 degree on 10thplanet. One thing those guys always bring up is that there isn't one 10thplanet guy at the high level. Maybe at their back wood area doesn't have a 10thplanet or they just haven't travel much. Another guy confess to being a ref and says he has never seen any 10thplanet guy on the podium. I'm like WTF!!??? Brian and Nathan killing people everywhere they go. So now if you see me posting some of yall's video online, please forgive me. I want to show these fools that 10thplanet does work and yall can compete against anyone.

Yeah, Dan Halpin in Is a douche. He used to be a part of gireviews.net, so he is a gi loyalist. I quit listening to the haters, most of them don't compete in nogi and aren't willing to back their mouths up by rolling with a 10P moon head. The close mindedness is one of the things that will keep jiu jitsu from ever really blowing up. Just keep rolling and your chance to prove the haters wrong will come.

After a while that stuff will be like water on a ducks back.. Don't let it stress you.. You know what the best website for learning quality nogi techniques is. You know what the best and most highly evolved jiujitsu system in existence is. It's only hurting them not seeing past the BS. You keep on keepin on.

Scott, I hear what you're saying. BUT still it just tick me off man. I was merely trying to share with a friend something good, something that we benefit from. And got ganged up on instead. Now I'm going to go find some of our 10thplanet buddies video and post it all over the place...LOL

It's not an argument you can ever "win" because you're arguing against their beliefs. Any "evidence" you post will be discounted or ignored because it doesn't support their beliefs. In the end, it's not worth the headache. You know what's up.

Haters make the system grow stronger, embrace it and don't let them get to you. You have barely even scratched the surface of 10th planet hate, the rest of us have grown in the system along with it. If they are hating, they are paying attention. It's flattering.

Oh I can promise yall this, when my daughter get better and deeper into the system, we will make a habit to throw up 10th gang sign everywhere we go. On top of that, we will sew back on the 10thplanet patches on her new sponsored Gi. LOL Sorry guys, I just don't handle haters all too well.

And each persons bjj journey is personal. No point in trying to prove yourself right or spread the good word.

If someone's listening, then they'll listen, and then they can see for themself. The other day I showed a fellow white belt old school and electric chair. He's the kind of guy with no background in grappling, he drills techniques in class but just can't put anything together. And it seems like no one else in class is giving him advice or tips. But after showing him stuff from the lock down, he's been sweeping guys in class and has been looking up how to fine tune the technique in youtube.

That's a great start, he'll learn for himself how effective it is. But the seed is planted.

There is nothing you can do about it with words. I dont even train at a 10thplanet school anymore because the one near us changed affiliation but I still get shit at my own school and others for some of the techniques. I personally make it a point to tap each of them out with the same techniques they call bullshit and low percentage over and over again. What I have found is that eventually they start to respect it when they are constantly being defeated/submitted by it and most of those guys come to me and ask questions now about how to defend and even how to utilize the techniques themselves. Running your mouth is one thing but backing it up and doing it live is another.
I have nothing to say to these people anymore. If your style is better than prove it on the mat...period.

Your right, there's only so much u can do. Some ppl r just really stubborn.

tenth planet is exploding and it has pretty much since the creation of it over ten years ago. and while a lot of teh hate is unwarranted, at least from their perspective, theres still alot of gaps in the system. they see tpjj as a few moves that they havnt put time into or they are just sheep that go along with the flow and say what theyre told.

tpjj has a very detailed and advanced bottom game, the top game is imo just as detailed and advanced now except not as well known, but top and bottom, the system is still very offensive. once we are all monsters are defending in all positions, and not only do we submit everyone but they never even get a point advantage over us; that is when we will start to get more respect. but i think that the understanding of the system and respect for it that we should have wil come about ten years after it actually should have been

Personally, I have been subjected to anal beatings left right and centre in Australia when we burst onto the comp scene officially in 2009. Now, we get respect as we have proven our value and still do over and over again. For me, I don't even give them a second of my time thinking about them at all!! I focus on being my best version each time I compete win or lose.

We fight, we win some and we lose some but one thing we ALWYAS get is respect by the way we conduct ourselves and by the way we stay positive and treat our fellow competitors. Killing them with kindness off the mat and killing them period on the mat is the answer for me. Time is all we need and not to metion the huge push we will get once Eddie showcases our system on the 29th March. How the fuck did we get to the biggest stage in Jiu Jitsu anyway?? By bullshiting our way in? I don't think so! Would someone like Master Jean Jacques Machado even put his reputation on the line for a loser?? Never!!!

Haters can go suck an egg! Im with Eddie and the 10th Planet gang!

They wish they had our culture.
They wish they had our evolutionary vision for a way brighter MMA/Jiu Jitsu future
They wish they had our unconditional support system
And they wish they had a leader like Eddie Bravo.

I think any honest, true believe in the 10th Planet system will admit that we kinda are a bit of a cult, though.

Haters will always be there. Even when guys are crushing, they just got lucky.

I agree with everyone, post all the vids you want. But if they are 10haters they will keep scrolling. I don't like to watch gi matches cuz to me they are dull & boring. But I will watch gi techniques if they look affective & translate well to Nogi. But I'd save my time. Besides, on the 29th Eddie is gonna show the world what time it is!!!:-)

OP, sorry you had to deal with that guy. That sounds precisely like his MO. Very black and white and his side is always not only right, but a picture of moral and logical perfection.

Personally, I don't train at a 10P location and have never trained any of the 10P sequences, but I don't understand why people care? I, for one, can't wait to go up on the north side to train with Josh some day and love that we have a 10P here in Chicago. Why would you want to limit yourself with who you can train with?

To win IBJJF points tourneys the best thing to do is what Gracie Barra does, focus almost all your mat time on sweeping and passing and very little time on submissions, and absolutely no reaping allowed which means very little leg locks especially heel hooks or toe holds which I'm pretty sure are banned in class. That's the correct formula to win points tourneys but to me that's not what I want 10p to be about plus that's boring as fuck.

We focus heavily on submissions, including reaping and leglocks. That's why we crush sub only tourneys while most of the "big" associations just ignore them and for good reason, that's just not their style. I don't know how many team NAGA titles we've won, but it's a lot. One thing is undebatable tho, we swarm and smash Gracie Nationals and Gracie Worlds and have won the team title the last 3 years including a 19 gold medal performance 2 months ago.

When it comes to points tourneys we may not dominate but in the Subonly world we rule, now that's an irrefutable fact :-)

Awesome point Eddie! I own a freaking gi company, but there's a reason grappling spats were one of my first products. I love the nogi leglock game and my coach, Miguel Torres, teaches leglocks from an awesome leg weave that does include a reap (which never hurts anybody, haha) so I'm in love with them as well.

As Rickson once said, if you're afraid to compete with no time, there is something wrong with your jiu jitsu. If you're afraid to compete in sub-only, there's something wrong with your jiu jitsu.

Also, I'll be picking up your tatami/scramble tee. Matt (scramble) and Gareth (tatami) are awesome dudes and I'm really happy to be able to support them and you. Get back to Chicago soon!
