question about rubber guard

my flexibility has been getting better little by little....my right leg is more flexible then my left leg so i tend to use mission control more with my right (until i can get my left leg to par). Now i don't know really what i did maybe from forcing flexibility or not stretching enough, but i strained my right groin. I rested it a couple of days and i don't feel the strain but now i feel like a little rubbing inside the groin when i flex my right leg around......

just curious if that's normal after the "straining" goes away or is that something the body does because of my rubber guard progressing?

I've never strained my groin or injured anything by using rubber guard. How is your technique? are you doing it properly?

Work a different type of guard until you heal man. A couple of times you do not use it is better than you injuring yourself. Give your groin some slack haha

When you stretch, your muscles are actually breaking down tissue a little, you can see it in the physique of gymnasts, for example. You could look at it like you're tearing your muscles by stretching, even though it's a little more complicated than that. Tissue injuries are usually best defined by range of motion (also a little more complicated, but it's a good rule of thumb); if you can move the injured area in a normal fashion (check it against the other leg), then it very well may be just lactic acid build-up, and would benefit from stretching and exorcise. If it hurts to the point you can't run without serious pain, then consult a physician. From the limited information I have, I would say it's simply lactic acid build-up, not a strain. If you feel uncomfortable doing rubber guard, then don't, but you should stretch the injured area and run.

make sure your warmed up before you stretch

its not hurting its more of like muscles rubbing together, it doesn't hurt at all just feels a little uncomfortable, and it only started after the pain from the strain went away.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If the pain comes back, then worry. It's also possible that there is some scar tissue involved, have you hurt your groin before?

Also, is there a popping or clicking sound when you move your leg around? It doesn't even have to be a sound, it can just feel like a pop or a click.

Put some tussin on it :)

like a popping or i guess u can call it a clicking, so yes. It doesn't hurt (it did when i strained it). but now its like that rubbing/popping if that better describes it. It's not all the time either, when i run walk or even stretch its fine. When i flex my right leg or pull mission control it might do it, but it doesn't stop me from doing mission control.

and to respond to eddie i dont know what tussin is lol sorry!

yea same with me, i dont know what it is, like i said i don't know if its from focusing on the rg so much that my body is overwhelmed with the flexing....no clue

So sorry for ignoring this for so long. Muscle tissue is layered; it folds on top of itself. If one layer is damaged and repaired, this could result in scar tissue (which should subside over time, but may never completely disappear). So what is probably happening is that there is a "bump" in one layer of your muscle, where before there was not, and the layer either on top or below the damaged layer is catching on it while it moves. While it may not be normal, it's also not very detrimental, unless it accumulates. So take just a little extra care with any area you have ever injured, and a lot of extra care of the areas you have injured repeatedly.

As for the hips and shoulders, that's usually a result of the same sort of aforementioned phenomena. The difference is it's usually a result of muscle catching on cartilage or bone. That's normal in all joints, especially those surrounded with large amounts of muscle (hips and shoulders, not so much toes or fingers). That's not so normal where there are no joints, like the gracilis muscle, which connects your pubic bone to your tibia (suspected discomfort perpetrator).

i have flexibility differences where the right leg is more flexible than my left leg , but i been taking my coaches advice and still practicing the rubber guard ,mission control with my left leg the less flexible one , and am getting some results and improvement with it . i guess its all about proper stretching and mat time , and heal from strains etc.
