BJ Penn's MMA book is very good (I can't remember the name). I like Marcelo Garcia's X-Guard book too (I don't know how experienced you are,but it's pretty advanced). I also found Ken Shamrock's "Beyond the Lions Den" very helpful at one point...
Yeah I've got Bj Penns book it's pretty good I should look over it again. I guess I should really explain what I'm looking for in a book, I'm more interested in books with good concepts and drills and gameplan type content rather then techniques because I figure if I want a book for technique alone I should buy a dvd.

Ressurecting this thread because my copy of Jiu Jitsu University arrived in the mail yesterday and I just have to say I am enjoying the introduction immensely. Saulo's philosophy on survival, tightening your defense, overcoming fear/ego, indominable spirit, etc, is put into words that seem like they were written just for me.
I know it's Gi based, but the into alone has me sold on it. Can't wait to check it out over the next X-amount of years!
I had to know alot about jj before I could truly appreciate his or Marcelo's book. It is a great book, but if you don't have a fundamental game plan already it can be random. They don't really know how to emphasize the subtleties to the tech or strategy. I read all of Victory Belts books and none came close to Eddie's in overall jj comprehension in the gameplan described. Lockdown, rg, twister side, mount.. I finally could see the overall picture.
Anyone know anything about The Master Text by Gene Simco?
