Jiu Jtisu saved me from a ticket

Title says it.
I was driving home on some back roads from training jiu jitsu and I was in a 35 zone or something like that and the cops tagged me doing 75 and careless driving because I jumped between lanes on an S curve. Cops pull me over and start questioning me about smelling weed and shit and I kinda chuckled because weed has never came close to that car. So the first one walks back and I hear him say he is just going to write up the ticket and the second one came up and started questioning me about my cars tint. He then asked if I did motocross because of my outfit. ( I had on my portland rashie and gi pants) I told him no, I just got done training jits. He then went back and I heard him tell cop 1 what I had said. Cop 1 steps out and walks up to my window and asked me why was I speeding etc. etc. Then he asked me if I trained jiu jitsu and I told him yes. He then flips his ticket book up and there it was.......a Gracie United sitcker on his ticket book holder. I knew it was on then. He asked me where and I told him. He then asked me my rank and my belt was in my passenger seat so I just handed it to him. He laughed, handed it back, and said "Anndd this is now just a warning." I FUCKING LOST IT. He just told me to keep it down and keep up the training.

I'm amazed a Gracie cop never took your licence off you hahaha, he must be injured at the moment and missed the Metamoris aftermath. Amazing news tho, drive safe though buddy!

It's funny cause I've never seen cops on that road by my house lol. If you would have left my house on time instead of training longer you would have probably missed it lol.

Priorities lol. But yeah, he gave me a "Fuck You" look when I stretched out my rashie and I said my style is 10th Planet. Lol. But we both laughed and parted ways.

This is why people should stop talking like ALL gracies and gracie students are ignorant and whatever. There are nice ones too. Lets not generalize when posting shit up on youtube for example.

lol Dude I was laughing for a while after you called us! That's awesome! lol I have never seen a cop down our road and for you to happen to be stopped by one that does jiu jitsu is awesome!

That's why I sent yall a pick of the warning lol. I knew it sounded to epic to be true. And by none other than a Gracie. Let there be world peace now lol.

Has happened to me to on the way to the gym. Was speeding and something else I cant remember like a brake light out or something. Cop asks me what all the books were for that were laid out on the back seat. Told him they were all martial arts books and he started asking me martial arts questions. Had a nice martial arts conversation and let me go with no troubles

As awesome and cool as that was of them, it's still a misuse of authority. Unfortunately, we only have problems with it if things don't go our way, or if the cops become perpetrators of wicked violations.

I'm just saying that they're there to uphold the law. Yea this instance was cool but it's technically not upholding the law.

Could have easily decided to be extra hard on him under the same principle of judging character and not the actual deeds.

Btw, I'm just really critical of authority, as every red blooded American should be.

Hear me out. I have 2 gym bags. One gi and one no gi. My no gi bag has a pair of shorts and a shirt to change into and my gi bag has just my belt and gi top. I dont need to risk any foot infection for showering and shit at my gi gym because I live literally not 10 mins away from it. But when I left out to train with Trey and Crystal Rushing at their house, I grabbed the wrong bag and didnt notice until I was already at their house. Thats a 45 min drive 1 way. Plus it wasnt that bad. We didnt roll. Just repped some rubber guard 101 stuff.

I've gotten some serious legal assistance because of genuine relationships I developed with people through jitz that just happened to be police. Can't really get into it too much but bjj literally has helped every aspect of my life.

When he and I started laughing a little when he showed me the sticker, I wanted to say " I'll roll you for a ticket. If I win, no ticket, you win....well shit, still no ticket please." Lol

i had a cop pull me over and ask why i had a military style bag in the back (datsusara battlepack). I told him it was for jj and he got really talkative, including making jokes that he, a hispanic man, only knew mexican judo- judont know if i gotta knife and judont know if i gotta gun.

I've definitely caught it both ways from the police. I treat my encounters with them with the utmost caution.

A highway patrolman saw my gis in my truck years ago, and browbeat me for the next 30 minutes. Mocked me about training, asked when was my next "fight", all kinds of shit. Searched my car for drugs twice, while I had to sit in the median with my shoes off and hands facing upward on my thighs. He found nothing, of course, because I don't smoke, rarely drink more than a beer at a time, and even have misgivings about taking aspirin. Ironically, this made me late for jiu-jitsu class.

But I train with quite a few officers at the sambo club, and they're great people.
