I love the idea that because Eddie pulled quarter guard and Royler was on top not completing any passes transitions or attempting any submissions is Dominating the first ten minutes.
"Excuse me Eddie... I am not impress with you performance" "Royler Gracie dominate you and Royce tell me you worked so hard you puke" - Georges St. Pierce
(Do the voice)
Royler like my alzheimer'ed Great grandmother, I respect them but damn they delusional
Well, I was hoping this foolishness had died down.
"He was just holding me." Isn't that called grappling?
"I didn’t see anything special from his game, again. "
Really? This is the kind of commentary that makes me ashamed of being Brazilian. Eddie pulled off what? Five Electric Chairs? Maybe more? Royler didn't even know what was happening. He got swept time and time again, with the same sweep/submission and couldn't even pass Eddie's quarter guard. If Royler really didn't see "anything special', he wasn't paying attention. And I'm not even counting the neck crank and the Vaporizer.
"I had a good start, dominated from the top for the first eight minutes.
From now on, every time I'm in someone's guard, I'll tell people I dominated them. I wanna see what they have to say to that.
"Eddie created some good positions and some people thought he would submit me, but you don’t submit people with those positions. It’s a game completely different from the normal jiu-jitsu game."
You don't submit people with the Electric Chair? You don't submit people with the mothafuckin Vaporizer? Royler was holding Eddie's pants for dear life at the end, because he knew what was coming. Delusional.
"I only fought him once and I didn’t know a thing about him back then, and this time I knew his game a little better,"
No, you didn't. If you did, you'd have known what to expect. You'd have known what positions to avoid. You wouldn't have been caught in that Vaporizer. You wouldn't have been swept time and time again with the same sweep.
I was better prepared this time, I knew what he would do, so it helped me,
Really?
Hey, Eddie, I know you're gonna try to Vaporize my fucking knee. No, really, I know it! Let me just push your head toward my leg, because I know what you're gonna do. Yeah, break that knee, baby! Yeah, pull! Damn, that feels good. Oh, it's popping? No worries, I have your pants. Nah, keep twisting, be my guest. This kinda position won't do anything. Nah, this would never work.
It’s awesome. I would like to (fight Bravo again), but that’s not in my plans now."
That would really be awesome. Maybe next time Royler would come prepared. Really prepared.
Gracies= Sorest losers of all time.
Jesus why do they have such a hard time givin the man his props. Be humble. Gracie hubris.
This is just pathetic. Admit defeat and everyone will have a better opinion of you. Royler got dominated, he better learn to accept that. He probably has so many 'yes men' around him, telling him that he did great, that maybe he believes it himself now?
I'm sure Eddie was playing nice; I'm no expert but in the 100 per cent transition he could have snapped Gracie' s spine if he had focused on the neck crank rather than using the position to attempt to go to back. Royler did have Eddie in a few sub attempts though, there was the 'debriefing' sub, the rape choke attempt and the post fight puke submission. Royler is the fucking man!
It makes me so sad to see that. I mean the Gracie family is THE greatest family in martial arts, but this nonsense really diminishes their accomplishments. The world evolves and situations change. Be humble accept the evolution or die. Isn't that the natural order of things? But hanging on to this hallucinatory vision that Royler dominated is unbelievably foolish.
#classy
who cares someone make a delusional gracie is delusional meme and we'll just stick a fork in this one
all im saying is if we wanna talk about a subject that has clear sides, will never get the real reasons thoughts and or closure, and is annoying as fuck, we can just talk bout my parents divorce.
funniest post from the UG:
"Whats dis, my knee pop - why he hold me?" "He try take my back, but my defense make so my neck crank and body stretch until I escape." "I was a side control him from da bottom after he try sweep me and try pass my guard."
I've got much love for 10th Planet but it's time to just forget about some of these peoples views and opinions on BJJ or the 10th Planet System or it's practitioners, forget em, they can miss out and 10th planet can keep doing its thing. Too much hate going on between BJJ schools and unfortunately 10th planet gets far too much of it
After the comments of some of the Gracie's after metamoris I have come to realise just how delusional they can sound at times with certain opinions they hold
Once again, the rivalry between 10PJJ and GJJ has been reinforced. GJJ is now clamoring for ways to discredit 10P after suffering a devastating "draw".
Personally Ive never experienced any rivalry. Im not on UG or anything and the Carlson Gracie guys are always cool when they come to our gym, Ive seen them look at my shorts but they've never said anything.
Happy to hear it bud...didn't used to think there was such negative/condescending views on 10th planet where I'm from but it's ridiculous, Jiu Jitsu Is a beautiful art that everyone should be learning no matter their affiliation, and my personal opinion is that 10th planet is the way forward, so what? Jiu Jitsu is a path that everyone needs to explore on their own :) so what of differing opinions? Just keep doing what your doing and show them all wrong :)
I think it's time we let this one go.
It's sad that that's how the Gracie's are approaching it but fuck 'em.
Points been proven I can tell by how instructors from around my area are reacting to the legitimacy of the system.
Im just sick of this talk about royler and other gracies trying to talk like royler did great. All this negative talk is a bit too much, I cant wait until this dies down and we move on. Eddie didn't win the match but he definitely surprised people.
I am ready to move on!
That is some major bitchassness going on there. I was one of the biggest Royler Gracie marks walking God's green earth. The school I rep traces it's lineage back to Royler. I initially thought Royler was going to smoke Eddie. But you know what; Eddie did amazing, and showed the world he ain't no punk. And honestly, I was like, "OMG, he's doing it! He's really fucking doing it!" Eddie won me over in that match.
It never made any sense to talk mad shit on Eddie's jiu-jitsu; because then that is talking mad shit on Jean-Jacques Machado. By saying Eddie's jiu-jitsu ain't shit, peeps are saying that Jean-Jacques don't know jiu-jitsu. Even if Royler was caught slipping in their first match, and the first match was a fluke, it still wouldn't have made Eddie any less of a jiu-jitsu practitioner. Jiu-jitsu is all about capitalizing on mistakes. I mean Eddie fucked up Gustavo Dantas, who is a bad motherfucker. Nuff' said.
After watching this whole drama unfold, and certain members of the Gracie family, among them Royler, having a major case of bitchassness; I can say that I am fucking disgusted. Talk about losing your balls. I respected Royler; but I am having serious reconsiderations on the issue.
You know; I was a 10th Planet guy when I started training jiu-jitsu; and now more than ever I understand the grief that every 10th Planeteer experiences for repping their school. Now I feel like I am guilty by association by training at a Royler affiliate. You are known by the company you keep.
I guess since I am a representative of the "traditional" approach to jiu-jitsu, I would like to apologize for all the shitty behavior that has been directed towards 10th Planet and its practitioners. And I would like to extend a big fuck you to Royler and Royce, for refusing to lose with some fucking grace. That is bitch behavior, unbecoming of members of jiu-jitsu's First Family.
Eddie was efficient and dynamic Royler was not! Even if it was a draw Eddies jiu-jitsu was much better then roylers and I would like to add Royler has never won against Eddie(not tapping is not winning) so he has no room to talk even if it was a draw. Fluidity, dynamics, and efficiency that is what made Eddie the winner in my book even if it was ruled a draw!
I started @ Carlsons under Wilson Junior, they were and still unbelievably cool. I had to leave as I moved 300 miles away and started at a RGJJ place. First thing that shocked me was the attitude. Carlsons were so easy going, I never heard a word about superior style they trained everything, I have to say since Metamoris I don't want to go back to RGJJ because of the clickiness. But the nearest 10th planet is 300 miles away too. But as Eddie has said in the past "any Jiu Jitsu is better than none". Still torn though:(
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but i thought the rules on Metamoris say if the submission is close the timer doesn't end. Why did it end?
Royler is a sore loser man
To everyone wondering why the match ended when it did (despite the submission being in place), listen to Scott Nelson's interview on the Grapple Arts podcast (it's the Stephen Kesting one) - really good interview, with some rare insight into the Gracie family by a guy (Scott Nelson) who actually lived and trained in Brazil -- according to him, the Gracies were known as bullies in Brazil, and to the common person, having an association to them (or to BJJ in general), was a good way of having doors shut in your face.
Really put some perspective into some of the recent behaviour we've been seeing after Metamoris.
