So what supplements, if any, is everybody using? I'm thinking about picking up some BSN products to help ward off the Sean Sherk types. I swear, these dudes follow me.

bsn has some good stuff. I take loads of supps!
no-xplode b4 i work out, cellmass afterwards (4 weeks on, 4 weeks off) they are prety good value too because they last for ages. I wouldnt bother with their protein though, its good quality but an absolute rip off. i like optimum nutrition 100% gold standard whey. 2 scoops of that a day and ur away, one tub will last about a month too.
i also occasionally use ax mass fx, its a natural test booster which is great for strength. i also have fish oils and glucosomine suplhate to prevent my joints getting messed up from all the beatings they get put through rolling.
if you want to know about a supp ask away, ive got a qualification in it and everything lol
After Shock from the Vitamin Shoppe. Has enough protein, loaded with antioxidants plus glucosamine and chondroiton. you get all you need in one tasty beverage.
Thanks GBurton. I was trying to decide between no-explode and syntha-6
syntha 6 is good, tasty too! but the serving sizes are huge, a tub would only last you 2 weeks at most, and its not cheap. i also dont like that it has sucralose etc in, i try to avoid those artificial sweeteners. id recommend getting a protein aswell as no xplode for strength and recovery of ur muscles. no xplode is essentially just like having a can of monster albeit one which is more associated to working out!
Not tried that after shock, it may be ace! but check the label when your getting all in one blends because they often put such little amounts of the extra ingredients in that its not worth having. like some of the ones with creatine already in, your only getting about 1 gram of creatine in a shake, you need at least 5 grams for it to be effective
BSN Syntha 6
BSN Atro Phex
BSN Nitrix
BSN N.O. Explode NT
Gaspari Size On (max perfomance)
Gaspari Anavite
Opt Nutrition Casein
Opt Nutrition Creatine Powder
ive been taking this stack for a few months now.. ive lost 18lbs of fat, 3" inches around my waist and much stronger and solid... im trying to stay aroung 225lbs so your goals will determine what you stack... syntha 6 has ALOT of fiber so beware! lol!!
You all are killing your liver. If you can't pronounce it....don't take it. IMO.
Most people are deficient in vitamin D, especially in northern latitudes. I take about 5000 iu of D3 daily. This will change your life for the better in many ways.
i can pronounce crack and dont take that! lol
i can understand where you are coming from in terms of strain on the liver... thats why i cycle on/off and drink at least a gallon of water everyday.. my doc knows everything that i take and its been a long time since ive felt this good...
never forget your multi...foundation for everything
for me the absolutes are:
protein
BCAA's (lots)
fish oils
multivitamin
sometimes money is tight, so I won't always worry about brands, its just so I get those in me some how some way.
you can buy supps in bulk from some companys,,,saves money in the end
I'm referring to all the alphabet soup ingredients in most supplements out there. Most have faulty claims regarding their results. I have done some hard stuff in the past (HGH and whatnot). Sure, I got results but I feel more confident in my abilities now that I am supplement free and relying on proper nutrition. I used to weigh close to 200 lbs, now I am 155 and feel a million times better.
I think Ive tried all the pre-workout supplements and the one that works best for me (and thats the key here...they all seem to affect everyone differently) is called Jacked by USP labs. Its only 29 bucs for a months worth...comes in a container that is small enough to fit in my bag and doesn't have any of the filler junk or side effects of other pre-workouts. After workout I drink a whey protein shake with at least 10MG of BCAA's (branch chain amino acids).
Also..check out anabolic pump and pink magic if you really wanna get that extra edge for a tourny or a workout in general.
1 anabolic pump 15 mins before i eat.
2 pink magics and 2 fish oils at meal 1 hour before workout (preferably oatmeal or banana)
2 1/2 scoops of Jacked 15 mins before workout.
2 scoops of whey protein after workout
You will want to bench press a car....
usp labs make great stuff
if you want supplements as others have already said you want to just start out with a good protein and some multi vitamins.
you can get so involved in supplements that is gets a bit stupid. but if you just start out there and learn more as you go along.
you can end up having didnt proteins for different times of the day ,all you pre workout supps and also as others have said your branch chain amino acids , glutamine and glucosamine (which are both very good if you training jiu jitsu ,or any physical sport and are also recommended to elderly people with joint problems)
but start with a simple whey protein and DEFINATLY some multi vitamins.
also flax seed oil or fish oil is always good
supplements are fraud. I've ate two greasy hamburgers every day since I was 17 and the doctor told me I was as healthy as a 75 year old man yesterday.
Protein (Myofusion)
BCAA
Creatine
Ubiquinol CoQ10
Vitamin D - 5000 iu
Vitamin E - Toco 8 http://www.primordialperformance.com...ine_toco8.html
I don't take pre-workout stuff anymore, but used to love MRI's Black powder.
Animal Pak (best multi around imo)
ON's 100% gold standard Whey
VPX N.O. Shotgun
VPX N.O. Synthesize
UN's casein/slow release protein
Fishoil / Glucosamine caps
Probiotics and seeds for breakfast each day
Finaflex is my new fav, I really love their products, and Ive found that the N.O. IGNITE, gives me that pump that Ive sought out in other brands, but next got. They are a fairly new company, but man they are about to blow up. Highly recommend trying them.
I used to use a lot of supplements, but only when I was weight training.
These days it's just jiu-jitsu and cardio stuff. Due to that I just take the basic stuff:
1. Multi-V
2. Fish Oil (I'm getting old, need to keep the heart healthy)
3. Ginseng
4. Glucosamine (Again, getting old. Need to keep the joints oiled)
5. Glutamine (Typically before and after practice)
6. Green Tea (all day longgggg)
