How did It feel?
what were your thoughts at that very moment.
Cant really remember, who it was that I submitted, but I remember how it felt, I was on top of the world for days, but I was also very young. What I love more than anything though, is watching a squid, catch his or her first submission. When allthat drilling comes together, and they catch someone. Its like a proud papa, watching his kid take their first steps...amazeing feeling!
I actually wasnt that excited about the submission. I was more excited that it was my very first win, which overshadowed the fact that it was my first submission, but i was happy. Oddly enough i wasnt like ecstatic, but i was happy. :)
I actually have a video of the monumental occasion thanks to Ryan. I was fairly nervous and had no idea how I'd stack up against others. It basically validated all the time I had already spent training as well as showed that I was on the right path with 10th Planet and listening to SponginBob. http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_u...&v=3QJ4I3K8SPw
I went it so nervious i wanted to throw up bad, he shot on me i sunk in a standing guillotine and 4 seconds later he tapped id won my first match in a total of 29 seconds, i didnt hit me then and there but later on that day i realized in that moment theres nothing more pure in life then competing against someone and making them admit that they cannot continue
I felt pretty good. I went crazy after my first twister though.
It felt good. I won by triangle...then won my second match by triangle...then won my third match and my first gold by triangle. I like triangles. :)
I know this is going to tell people how old i am, but my first submission win was in 1996, i was training under chris brennen (UFC 15-17) and roger brooking from brazil, at the "Next Generation BJJ Academy" in Mission Viejo, CA. My first actual win was by RNC, and I really had no idea I had actually tapped the guy out, I was so jazzed that i had actually avoided his take down and scrambled my scrawny ass onto his back and grabbed some lapels that I didn't realize I was choking him. he tapped and the ref pushed me off of him and i almost got pissed at the ref for ruining my awesome scramble. heh. but when i realized what happened, i just stood there looking around to see if anyone else saw me do it.. it was an awesome mind fuck feeling. i just choked a dude for the first time in competition.. what 18 year old guy wouldnt love that?
it was NAGA 2010 ..my opponent was this big tall blond white supreimacist,,all tattoed up....i won by americana..it felt real good
MMA fight - mid 90s. I got rocked right off the bat with this guys blind over hand right (I still think it was a lucky punch)...anyway. All my wins and my rep was as a striker at this point...but this fight went to the ground (not of my choosing :) and I took his back and rear naked choked him. It was a mixed feeling. I was glad I won but felt like I lost because I didnt finich him on my feet. I know better now :) ...a win is a win and everyone has a punchers chance...even that lucky S.O.B. :)
My first competition I was so unprepared. I knew no sweeps, stayed up half the night smoking and was in awful shape. It was NAGA 2008 novice division, under 150. My first match was likely one of the least technical of all time, we swept each other at least 5 times, I finally locked up an americana. I was too tired to be excited. I won my next match 0-0 but had an advantage for catching him in triangle. I lost my next match by rnc, I was exhausted and then had to another for 3rd place, lost the same way.
armbar from the mount. old school gracie style.
I won via flying armbar. I had a lot of training and unofficial smoker matches. Poor bastard just reached for a lazy collar tie.
Grapplers Quest vegas advanced against one of Carlson Gracies Students. Road the lightning into an electric chair then held my breath. Before the match could tell me if the chair was legal so I didn't Know if my hand would be raised or if I would be disqualified. It was raised. It was very cool because it was the first time competeing as 10th Planet. Plus Eddie's big dogs were there most of whom I'd only seen on youtube before that.
I remember just starting to train RG after going to watch a Grapplers Quest in NJ. I came back with a vengeance at the 09' GQ in Pennsylvania and got my first competition tap after making it to Jiu Claw. Ice Picked that sucker then got my over/under and finished the Omoplata like a champ. Never in my life did I think I would take a win by the Omo
October 23rd 2010. At least I hope so. Wish me luck guys.
My first sub was an invisible collar i just crushed the dude and he tapped, i couldn't believe how easy it was. Wait i lied, my FIRST sub ever was a sharpshooter on my cousin after seeing Brett "The Hitman" Heart do it. Pretty sure i was like 8.
gogoplata at the US open last year.
I was a muay thai striker for several years . I was informed that my opponet had no ground game to speak of and that i better learn a feww techniques . i went to mfs and learned a simple arm triangle (i know i was deprived in jj skills ) . anyways short version i ended up getting on the ground in the first round and slipped the choke on . guy passed out .. I got up and was like holy shit that crap actually works , been addicted to it ever since then
I nailed two achilles locks, felt good man :)
My first competition sub was a locoplata. I was still pretty tired from getting whupped by the gorilla I had in my first match so I was kind of in a daze. I do remember being as elated as I have ever been and I remember coach jumping and screaming for me. I don't know if anyone has ever been that happy for me about anything and that made me feel even better. I'm so glad that one made it on video.
First submission was a marce... I didn't think I had it but David was on the sideline screaming, "STRANGLE HIM!"
