Just curious guys,
After you've hit the sub, what's the worst excuse someone has given you for tapping?
#1 for me is still... "I tapped because of my haircut"...
No... Really... That happened.

I once tapped and my opponent asked why I was tapping, then I realized I'd tapped myself! I've also tapped to a grappling dummy. But at least I didn't give an excuse to myself or the dummy for tapping.
Dude said he tapped because he just had a hair cut and apparently where they shaved the back of his neck was being agitated by my Darce.
To this day I giggle about it, I mean c'mon what's worse tapping to a Darce or a haircut??!
Lol
Dude tapped cos he reckons he heard his phone ring!
Seriously!
at my size they all look at me like "whaddaya expect look at you" but rarely do i get an excuse. lol
my craziest tap was to an in house tourney, and i tapped because i was nearly fainting. my excuse was i donated about 750mls of blood at lunch. :D
i think the craziest tap ive gotten from someone was this guy who apparently had a problem where his muscles formed wrong and he was extremely unflexible. like i would tap him out in my closed guard. for closing my guard. or i would grab his wrist and sit up for a kimura.
"I thought my leg would snap, that's why I tapped"
"...But I had a guillotine...in from guard"
I got knocked down from kicking the heavy bag lots of times.
I've tapped because of my hair, too... Guy knelt on my hair, I tried to turn, almost went bald.
To my shame, I "cardio-tap" way more often then I'd like to admit.
I hate it when people stop rolling because they are unfit and don't want to tap to a submission.
I had a guy tap to an armbar then tell me he was just about to escape anyway so we might as well just start over. He was 100% serious.
I've been guilty of a bad excuse.
The last day of my first week in class I subbed by every north south choke attempted on me. After the 3rd white belt that got me with it, I literally said, "If I wasn't wearing this stupid gi, my arms wouldn't flail and it wouldn't look like I was tapping"
"I had Taco Bell for lunch" ...I have both been on the receiving and giving end of this old chestnut
"That wasn't really choking me...it just hurt my neck."
"I'll try to hurt your neck faster this time."
LOL. I don't hate it. I understand. I just prefer not to do it myself. I guess maybe that's one place where my ego works in my favor. I'm too proud to cardio tap. I'll play defense until you tap me no matter how exhausted I am. I'd rather tap to a sub than tap to my cardio. I find cardio tapping more embarrassing.
lol, I don't cardio tap unless it's worth the shame.
Cardio tapped to a new guy recently. I was going really light. I was like "Cool, new guy. Let's let him execute his game a bit, I'm wearing the green band, telling everybody I want to go light so I should definitely go light with this guy."
He passed my guard and put me in kesa gatame. His pressure was outrageous! He wasn't a huge guy or anything, he just had a ton of pressure on my sternum. Felt like I couldn't breathe at all. I was winded enough, fought hard enough to get out that I felt like I had oxygen debt AND couldn't breathe...
Awful.
Maybe I'm weak, I dunno. :) I like breathing.
i had a guy tap from just a tight closed guard. Then he asks what move that was and if we could drill some of it so it didnt happen again to him > This was after he just got done telling everyone in the class how he double medaled in his last tourney.
Dammit I remember a having to tap a few times from the lockdown before my body toughened up. I also developed shin splints for a while and I had to tap from that a couple times too, just while playing shin-on-shin guard games.
We used to have one guy who would show up once in a while and he would roll with us. He would roll until you caught him in a sub, and then instead of tapping, he would stop the fight verbally and ask us to outline the sequence of events that led up to him getting caught. So even though you may have caught him in a Kimura or whatever, he would be like "whoa whoa, hang on, how did you get me in this position from that position, when I was originally in this position?" etc.
It was silly, because you knew you caught him, and he knew you caught him, but he wouldn't tap, he would just interrupt the roll to ask questions.
Anaconda choke, more experienced guy (by time, not by belt) at the gym probably 2 or 3 months after I started jits, had him in the choke (with the leg laced) for about 6 or 7 seconds, tightened my squeeze, and got the tap. It was the first time I had ever tapped this dude. When we went to restart he said the choke wasn't that tight, he just got tired of waiting and was ready to restart. It is important to note that these were times rounds...5 minutes, and we were probably half way through.
Ego is a funny thing. Everyone soothes it in different ways. Some guys fake injuries. Some guys make up stories.
I soothe my ego by laughing. I laugh mostly because I'm having fun. But sometimes I laugh when I get caught in something I feel stupid for getting caught in. When it's just flat out good work, I compliment the guy. But when I feel dumb because I feel like I know better, I'll laugh.
That said, I have no problem tapping. In fact, I'd rather get tapped than make up some BS and lie to myself.
a dude at our gym once tapped to a "indian sunburn" then put the dude who applied the 'technique' on Blast it was one of the funniest things ever!
I tap to lower body cramps all the time. I feel like a chump, but if my calves lock up, I'm fucked
I have had two silly tap excuses that I had to give. First was because his toes got caught in my braid as the guy went for something and I couldn't move without ripping my hair out. Actually, toes getting caught in my hair has happened a couple of times but it's what I get for having long hair.
The second was a couple weeks ago after my trip to California. I was extremely sunburnt on my back and the entire class hurt but I tried rolling anyway. When my boyfriend threw up a triangle, his leg curl across my back was too much to handle so I tapped.
There's a dude that works out in the gym portion here that decided to come in and prove how what we do is for sissies. He challenged me in front of everyone before class. I happily obliged him and obliterated him with a Marcelotine. He said, "I didn't know you could choke each other. Let's do it again, but with no chokes."
So I put him in the Carni.
Every time I see that dude working out in the gym, I make the throat slash at him.
Also, I don't allow you to tap to cardio. You shouldn't have shot your gas tank trying to spazz all over me for the first 45 seconds.
If you're not puking or injured, you don't get to quit.
That is awesome.Quote:

I have a cracked skull..
Not really an excuse but just as bad, I had a white belt in a choke ( probably a triangle ) and he then proceeded to tell me how to finish It. Lol
