What's new? I don't feel like reading everything just to find one new rule.
--Adding 20 lines about reaping the knee
--The "better" one:
Refs are gonna count 20 seconds from the double guard pull (movement or not) and if a fighter doesn't emerge on top or in a sub, Then both fighters are given penalties, and both will be stood up.
The knee reaping rule sounds like a good step in the right direction. I've watched a few comps where guys got DQ'd for single leg X which sucks. Sounds like the new rules might open some things up.
We been having many success after learning the Single Leg X Guard like Marcelo does it. And rightly so, we have name that move the "Marcelo". Its been Golden for Cora, but every time she does it, I pray that she doesn't get disqualified. Also does anyone know of any rule concerning Electric chair sweep and lockdown?
I expected way worse changes. Still far from where they should be though. I'm also weighting for them to allow protective equipment like a mouth piece and cup. You have to be worried about immediate DQ from reaping fro "safety" but mouth piece and cup are illegal for "realism"? This pretty much the last sport out there with an organization who has this rule.
Many gym owners hate it when you do the lockdown but there is no IBJJF rule against it in a tournament. The electric chair is tricky because they will let you do groin sub's which it is but you can never do heal hooks in IBJJF which the occasional ref THINKS it is. Hopefully after this Royler rematch, less refs will be seeing it for the first time when they are forced to make a ruling on it so hopefully that will mean less mistakes.
Electric Chair falls under "Submission techniques stretching legs apart" which is legal for ages 13 and up. There is no issue with lockdown provided it's not used as a submission. Keep in mind a lot of traditional BJJ guys, refs included, consider lockdown a stall position so you need to make sure she's active with it to prevent "lute" penalties.
They'll still give the other guy an advantage when you put your lockdown in, and everytime you whip-up, and they flatten you out with the underhook they'll give him an advantage again. Advantage is lame, but you have to be aware that they're always there from every position.
I tap to lockdown. Ok I admit it. I tap to an 11 yr old girl lockdown. :(
There will be matches where both competitors pull double guard over and over in hopes that they can pull off a berimbolo within 20 seconds. Matches will be ending in -14/-16. It will be like judo except instead of looking for throws they will be looking for berimbolos
Fuck those guys. (Those guys meaning IBJJF)
You would hope they follow the rules. The IBJJF is crooked as fuck and biased when it comes to reffing. Good luck getting your sweep points against a guy from either the refs association or Gracie Barra. It won't happen. They'll throw you an advantage instead.
Word to the wise. Have a corner that knows the ins and outs of the rules game, and make sure they're yelling out your points. The squeaky wheel gets the oil in the IBJJF my friends.
Budo Jake put out a video explaining the new rule changes and breaking them down. If you haven't seen it yet - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mavV3nv3Aew
