Nobody listens when I say swing the far leg over like you're spinning around and you'll end up in mount or guard depending on the force. I was the only one who used this at the Marcelo school I went to and people stopped using the elbow push on me quick. Maybe it doesn't really work, but on low level guys that practiced that escape daily, I used all the time.
How are they executing it from twister side? I can see how it's being done from side or judo side, but not twister side. How are you ending up after they do it?
Armbar. In MMA I would not recommend it, but in BJJ bait the Hiesman and snatch that arm.
I heisman out of ts. I also get heisman'd.
If I'm on his right side, I reach my left hand under his lower back and to his far love handle. I grab as much flesh as I can and work to smash his face with my hips. He has to be on his side to heisman from there. If your arm is under him its waaay harder and often ends in top turtle with the desouza grip.
I'll get the electric chair sweep, as I'm on top, I have their leg and neck held together with a gable grip. As soon as I let go, they immediately push and squirm. I try my best to stay in position by bear hugging their hips and legs but I end up losing position
I would try circling to the back of they are facing you. If their back is turned and they are up on their elbow, you can baseball slide into a back crucifix
See if you can get to north south . That way your spine is inline and you have your weight on top in a kind of 4 corner mount.
I imagine this is your question check out what Marcelo does at the 35 second mark he is such a tricky grappler:))

He has to get on his side and escape his hips. Keep him flat, keep him trapped. As soon as I feel he can free his hips, I hop up to knee on belly right before and look to be mobile while clearing his control. Timing is huge. If you wait till his arm is locked and he's on an elbow, its too late.
I think eddie menioned the russian cowboy as a counter. You can also try to move to NS or SC on the other side.
Russian cowboy is money.
Thanks guys, the ns, Russian cowboy and reverse knee on belly all worked out for me last night. Excited to work these options!
My counter will forever be in the dust of anticipation, my counter is everyone else's 4th string, the farm team of counters. One day...One day my heisman counter will shine. I will laugh at all of you....**evil laugh**
seriously guys, a guy I trained with picked a stupid guard jump that a white belt, "Made up" to send to Marcelo through text message and left my elbow push counter on the back burner. Marcelo responded that he had been doing that guard jump for a while and cited comps with the response...I'll just blow err'one up all by myself...
Someone find a video on countering the heisman and post it for chrisakes :)
I've had a ton of success with doing a barrel roll toward them.
I've been having the same problem. I get to twister side control, then I get pushed down to his hips. I did some digging and found a Scott Epstein video showing how to push back off the hips, wiggle and grind backwards to crush the face and go heavy on the arm. I'm going to practice tomorrow. http://youtu.be/Nq7_2kzazXI
The heisman or general straight arm is the bane of my existence when rolling with red, when I find something that can stop that I will be shouting that shit from the rooftops. On most other people I can chop the arm down and go for a slicer but red gets upright enough so I just end up falling on my ass at that point with him.
Always feel so close, but am so far . . .
I have had a few good old fashioned night cries off that one.
