These are fairly harsh words and I am very saddened to hear them. An all-time great abandoned our sport because of greed and politics.
Its awesome guys like Jacare are coming forward with these statements. If enough of them do MAYBE something will change

Yeah. He left sport jiu jitsu, but as of right now, he's still one of BJJ's greatest examples in MMA.
I agree with him. And I'm glad he's speaking out on it. IBJJF is basically a marketing platform if your goal is to open a school. Other than that, there is no benefit. Like I said, I'm glad he's speaking out on it.
He didn't really leave our sport. He just left the IBJJF.
He was still down for ADCC from 2005-2011.
Hell, the IBJJF has only even cared about no-gi since it started no-gi mundials in 2007. As far as I'm concerned, they're latecomers to the no-gi tournament game anyway.
Same thing happened in Judo, unfortunately the IFJ didn't listen to the people, I doubt the IBJJF will listen either.
bump the ibjjf. i don't compete for them at all. most of my guys are the same way. i allow my students to compete wherever they want. no restrictions. its crazy that even the white belts can see how ridiculous those people are.
Couldn't agree more, on a side note this guy is also probably the best example of aggressive Jiu-Jitsu in MMA.
He's part of a dying breed. With MMA being dominated by wrestlers and strikers, BJJ has fallen behind in the evolution department. Jacare is one of the few who's still using BJJ effectively at the highest level.Quote:

I love everything about Jacare. He's making Jitz work in Mma, his striking is mad legit and so are his takedowns, and now this logic from him, I'm even a bigger fan than before :-)
Unfortunately the federation just want money for them ! its too hard you go to a contest like de World Championship in USA , like we have to spent too much money tripping, somewhere to stay, food, and stuff , and them if you win your category, you just win a medal ! I mean , come on !! You became a champion of the world and wins a medal and a handshake f.. off ! Jacaré is totally right i always liked him in BJJ and now in MMA. Other fighter said similar stuff is Rodolfo Vieira, he said if the Abu Dhabi world pro were in the same day that IFBJJ World Pro he would go to Abu Dhabi cause there they give some value the fighters and the work they have ! they even pay your trip if you win the selective
