Choking hazard
Nice!
Mike just curious, why do you prefer the stick shift to the outside?
Do you have a preference for triangles? Stuffing the arm vs Slo?
I like to go straight with the wrist because it makes me roll to my shoulder. I hate it whwn guys roll to their elbow during a butterfly sweep and so that just became natural for me.
As for triangles I prefer to have palm up wrist control slo triangle style.
Do you combo from stick to slo triangle from butterflies a lot when they post they arm? or do you make different adjust to continue the sweep?
I have a few sweet options from the stick shift transition to mounted triangle and reverse triangle too.
Its a nice out of the box type attack which works well as a surprise attack from that initial sweep.
I love the Stick shift sweep its jacks so many people bigger than you. Thanks Mikey!
Great job Dewitt
hand to the outside. how interesting.
How are you keeping him in cocoon with just an overhook everytime I've worked this we've always gotten them to base before we go to the stick shift
Somethin tells me you catch this 10 times a day.
Any danger of your opponent limp arming out? Gonna rep this tomorrow.
Is head placement important? I always have my head on the side I'm gonna sweep to.
If someone bases hard then my transition is pyramid. I catch the wrist before it gets to the ground. Im always hunting a wrist on that side. Their shouldnt be a limp arm if your overhook is strong and you are elevating them. Alternatively if the hand is super heavy it means the knee might not be so I have in the past, kicked their knee on the same side as the wrist control. I have also used the sweep to get them on their side and hit vice grip to D'arce
Thanks for the info guys!
Can't wait to try this out :-)
No problem guys let me know how it works for you.
Do either of you hit the JJ2 when they base heavy on the hand? I havn't been able to try it in rolling yet (one more week til rib injury is fully in the clear) but I've been able to drill the butterfly warm-ups, and it seems when they are really heavy on the posted hand, instead of underhooking near the armpit, if you underhook either at the tricep or the wrist you can collapse his arm forward and load him up to sweep him either way. Any body have any success with something like this?
I dont have the jj2 down yet, its still clunky for me in the warmups.
I like the JJ2, but only as a follow up to JJ1.
I go for the sweep with JJ1, he bases and counters by shifting his weight to avoid the sweep. As I feel the change in weight distribution, I dive hard into JJ2, upper cutting with my underhook.
Nice sweep but that's not the stick shift. The stick shift is when you attempt the Jean Jacques sweep like in warm ups F and your opponent bases his hand on the mat, then you grab his wrist, pull it towards you then push it to his stomach and continue with the sweep :)
Stick shiftesque?
Shifting sumthin?
It's the shickstift sweep.
Haha yeah something like that.
The SUV sweep. you play around with the gears a bit differently and theyre so easy to flip over :D
cool technique. question, do most people stick the wrist inside the leg? I've always done it the way that mike showed. cant say exactly why, but I feel like its an awkward angle otherwise and i guess my arm can be straighter so i can lock my elbow in place better.
I've found that sticking the arm to the stomach or between the legs makes for an easier transition to mounted triangle even with limited flexibility. Good to have another option for a bigger less flexible opponent though
Let me know if it works for you guys or not!
