I personally love the no gi version of the baseball choke. From what I've seen, it isn't very popular. Do any of you guys use it? or do you think it's a low percentage move?

Master Vic has got a deadly one. This move is mad legit
I hit it from knee on belly from time to time, I dig it.
I got massacred with this in one of the Kakuto matches last year. It's an awesome move.
I use it from the bottom of side control. It can be used to sweep from there as well
Love it! It's my go to from KOB!
If I was in the same position as he is, I always found that if I took my right thumb and placed it in between my left index finger/birdie finger that I could squeeze a bit tighter... just a little variation of the grip that I used to use.
I do this from knee on belly. When people defend kimura and darce by going on their back, it's the perfect time to go for this one. It's really tight when the grip is on. Also I like to sometime switch the hips into scarf with the vice grip, then the choke is mad tight.
Always a good option from Knee on belly.
I too love the nogi baseball bat choke...works great from top side positions. I started out using the gable grip, then switched to the golf grip, lately I've been using Big Red's S grip, and I've always used the 3 finger grip. Would love to hear about any other types of grips that have worked for folks.
This is the grip that I think we're all talking about.

Red Schafer showed this to us a while back. One of his guys gets it in comps a bunch. A couple of our guys a getting good at it. One guy hits it flyin'. We have had one mat nap from it already!!
Yea, I love that three finger grip, I use it almost every where. I was messing with the baseball bat choke for awhile but I only have one setup that was consistent. Its a nasty choke, I think I'll play with it some more tonight.
One of my favorite chokes! And the common defense against it (ie. turning towards you) sets you up for kimuras, armbars, etc.
I particularly like to use this on new guys who like to brute-strength me in class on our first roll.
I <3 your adam's apples, menfolk. ;)
Red showed us a twisted s-grip version that cuts off both arteries real well. Works from bottom side well.
I've done this a few ways and I would have to say I prefer the s grip. But it takes some getting used to. You can hit this choke from damn near anywhere and put people to sleep.
I highly prefer that grip over the gable in both the baseball bat choke and in my Darce series. I feel like I can clamp my forearms together tighter without compromising the integrity of the grip. This could be due to my hanky wrist, but it was definitely a positive change for me when I switched to the 3 finger grip.
For the S grip on the baseball bat choke, I have no idea how y'all make that work. I can't get anything out of it.
That 3 finger grip makes me question my sexuality. In a bad way. I don't like it.
I Gable grip my baseball bat chokes.
A deadly 'red team go' surprise attack and a game opener for me. The knee on belly version has many steps to it that I love and use on the reg. What ever your 'finger-banging position of choice, I'm down for, as long as that neck gets its ultimate squeeze, its good for me. I have used the Gene Labelle grip for many rear naked choke style attacks and I am sure it has a place with Mr Baseball bat choke too.
I like it, but i don't hit it as much as i would like i just have different go to's

Since the Red schafer seminar, this has been a go to for me.
s-grip, get really low too, and its hard to stop.
i did this comp 2 weeks after a rib injury took me out for 6weeks,
so i stuggled in conditioning. and its third match
but the finish is Red's grip version. good look at it. right at the end of video.
I'm not even sure if I'm on the right page, but I've found some great success with that grip on the "FDH" rnc lately. When the opponent is desperately digging for 2 on 1 and I can't reach the shoulder with the choking arm, I take the 3 finger grip. Releasing my hook attempts, I back out to my knees with the grip in tight and apply pressure in and forwards...hopefully getting the tap.
