Counter to 'buttock compressor'?

So I love the lockdown game and have had super high success with it in sparring and competition...until last week!

I rolled with an old team mate of mine last week and he destroyed my half guard. He's a decent wrestler and a good bjj player and one of those super naturally gifted athletes. He is the only person I've come across to use the buttock compressor and I literally couldn't stop it and what seemed like the inevitable pass!

I tried to get tight under hooks but even then it seemed unstoppable!

Any advice from you guys would be hugely appreciated as I have to roll with him again this week!

I hear 100% works. But I haven't had it used on me and I haven't used it on anyone else. Someone else will have to confirm.

What usually works for me is just a hand on the head and constant hip escaping making sure to follow them when they inevitably try to hop to the other side. Shove their face into the floor, one hand on the mat and try to stay above them and work your hips free. They will try to hop over so you may need to switch your hips and your hands to maintain pressure on their head until you can work yourself free, or you can try to use any space they may give during the hop to square back up into some sort of guard.

Oh, thanks for that one! I've been using the buttocks compressors on folks who aren't lockdown savvy, they're surely going to be using it on me soon. Now I'll be one step ahead... :D

Thanks for all of the advice guys :)!! I'll put some of these moves into practise this week and see if I have any success. I found that as soon as the lockdown was broken, he basically passed with either force or slide/jump and then hit side control - very strong on top and then basically hit a guillotine/crank if I shrimped or if I tried to hit a dog fight type position. Hopefully I can stop some of this, this week - it was a fun but extremely frustrating hour of rolling.

I like to chin strap an opponent that attempts to use the buttock compressor. They can't execute the move very well if they can't back down.

Another good counter is to wait for your opponent to drive their leg backward very hard. At that moment, release the lock down and butt scoot backwards.

Rubber guard. All these answers have been legit. But the thing i do is just grab chill dog right there.. I like the chinstrap idea.. im trying that soon.

Try using a lotus when he gets round your hips. One of the guys that trains with me does this and it works well. He basically just goes lotus like you do from the truck and then when you go to sprawl back you can't break their guard then as they come back up work on getting unders or overs to set up some sort of upper body control. Try it out and let me know how it goes. Seems legit to me
