Went up a level today after either 40 mins to an hour (a lot of it became a blur) of flat out shark tank. Got put to sleep a good 6 times (blue belt hazing I suppose) then got the traditional whipping.

Congrats Keith!
Congrats, dude!
Congrats mate!
Congratulations man
Cheers lads! The hazing was good in a way, it was like a reminder for the new blue belts that we don't know shit. I know SOME shit but I really don't know shit. Keeping that white belt mentality to be open to all ideas. But then again, I don't know shit in gi, nogi is my game.
Congrats dude!
Congrats!
Congrats!
Congrats. I'm a bit weirded out by you being put to sleep 6 times, but, congrats.
Put to sleep six times? Were you just not tapping ? Congrats on the promotion
congrats
Oh I tapped like crazy but I'd just wake up with different brown belt on my back or just someone running towards me. Being honest I was just dying for it to end, nearly got sick at the end. I'd never run a club like that though, there's better ways to test people without having a black belt with a good 70kg on me choking me out.
Congrats man!!!
If someone with 70kg on me and a blackbelt choked me unconscious after I tapped I'd be looking for another school.
However, that is just me and I don't really have a right to condemn methods of a school that could well have a stable of beasts.
Very pleased for you getting promoted. Seeing you around here I can tell you love the sport :-)
Not respecting the tap is a breach of trust. I'd get out of there.
It's not my usual club, it was the club we're branched off from kind of. Yeah I agree with you there, the worst part was the constant pressure on my neck which has been injured for the past few months and knee slice passes fucked with my hip that I hurt last week.
Congrats on the bump.
congrats on the bluebelt, it takes a while when your mostly a no gi guy so getting it must be awesome.
Nope, I literally got choked out 6 or 7 times, I lost count but was told by some of the guys who were watching! I see where they're coming from in terms of a test to see how bad do you want it and it did help keep a good mindset (that I still don't know shit and have a lot to learn). I'm not a fan of the idea at all but I suppose it's helped build some mentally tough grapplers and they have some great guys up there. I have a lot of respect for Andy, for his technical ability (3rd dan bb in judo and 2nd dan in BJJ I think) as well as everything he has accomplished. He's building his super gym now. I'm glad I passed the blue belt filter in their eyes! I feel like I'm starting my blue belt days off in a positive way. I still feel the need to study constantly and constantly improve and seek excellence as some people have said before. But even though the belt only covers 2 inches across my ass, I now feel like there's a standard that I have to SMASH completely and just keep on learning. I'm more motivated than ever now and just looking forward to all competitions. NAGA in paris, blue belt division, "hide yo legs, cause I'm honey holin' urrybody."
[QUOTE=Andrew Sarasin;235712]yeah, i thought that was..not wierd but just bad for your brain, lack of oxygen is not good for the brain cells.. i m guessing your exaggerating.[/QUOTE
Firstly congrats Keith :)
But I was part of the same tank as Keith so I can say without doubt that he's not exaggerating, once they found out I needed to through up I had a a continues stream of purple and brown belts who just knew rode me till I did throw up. Then they
would only attack collar chokes and not let them go, even when I was punching a guy in leg as I went out.
