Been looking at the Mechanic Sweep. If your partner hides his wrist (or is just not accessible) do you adjust and hold forearm or elbow? Or do you create space to get the wrist control. I look at MTS 13 and Eddie emphasized the wrist control. I'm assuming the technique works without it, but only against lower rank grapplers? Or are there modifications to him holding you in the whizzer that will allow you to still pull the mechanic sweep? thanks in advance for your help.
If you can't get all the way down to the wrist use the forearm. You must squeeze/pinch your elbow to trap the arm. Ideally you would use the mechanic when they have pressure on and going for a Darce/jnt. If you can't get where you need on the arm then you are prolly in posish to go ec. Hope that helps:cool:

Keep in mind knee squeeze always when using any kind of LD. For whipping think of keeping the inward knee squeeze and bring your knees to your chest & back out like your doing a jackknife type crunch.Quote:

How is he hiding his wrist? If he has a deep whizzer, his wrist should be readily available. If his arms are short, I just do a sort of one armed guillotine to trap the arm. Otherwise, the only way I can imagine the guy hiding his wrist is if his whizzer is loose. If that's the case, I'd punch up to grip his far shoulder/trap and go for a back take. But I can't say I've encountered a hidden wrist when going for mechanics.
Even if you can't get the mechanic grip, dipset that shit.
Commit to the mechanic with or without the grip. They either roll over or they post. Quickly switch to the old school and drive forward into their hips. If they thwart that, slap the electric chair on em, and remember to angry rainbow.
Lockdown is powerful. Use it.

I'm getting tons of mileage working with the Lockdown. However, coming from a Gordo half-guard school, I am getting cognitively confused, as I am used to a knee-shield (free leg, Gordo type of) half. I just gotta get over the cognitive hump. But so far, I'm enjoying it's purpose, especially against some of the bigger/stronger guys in our gym, it really kills their smash. thanks all for the help. much appreciated.Quote:

I love the mechanic and I use it a lot, for me it suits good to just trap the forearm if I'm not able to reach to the wrist.. Sometimes it has to be really quick so I just grab or trap whatever the guy gives me it really doesn't matters if its the forearm the wrist or just a part of the elbow, the mechanic works anyway :-)!Quote:
