My first match of the tournament. I beat a blackbelt on refs decision. I wish I finished that Kimura attempt, however I was honored to just be out there competing against guys of that calibre.

Can't wait to see this bro!!
Thanks everyone. I know it's a super slow match which is kinda what I was intentionally trying to do. However I wasn't trying to stall that dudes 1/2 guard is death and I watched a Buch of his matches prior to competing. I had a feeling hed pull guard and work X guard but i wanted to stay back and I wanted to dictate the space. I wish I would have finished him but I got careless with my top leg while going for the Kimura.
Was that Nick Sanders you went against? Cant really see his face

Here's the 3rd match for some reason the 2nd one is taking forever. This was against a purple belt, who at the time someone told me was a black belt, which made me more cautious, I wish I wasn't so cautious I definitely could have beat that guy. I lost 2-0 off a strange call, Granted I tried to hit a lateral they gave him the takedown which is kinda shitty. Don't mind Josh's yelling I told him he's gotta yell louder because Five grappling is always bumpin mad tunes and I can't hear shit out there.
A huge congrats on beating a black belt! You have the potential to be an ADCC heavyweight star. Keep learning, keep evolving, and keep adding weapons to your arsenal :)
I told Ezra and Nick I wanted to come down and train with them. I know they have a wealth of knowledge I can take and I look up to them both. I was just very fortunate to be able to come out with a win in that match. But I definitely want to train with both of those dudes.
Awesome bro major congrats :) BEAST
Thanks Denny. You're a huge inspiration with how I approach my stand up game. I love the way you hold your hands tight to your body and I've noticed how effective it is. Just watching you compete gives me the chills. No lie I appeeciate everything I've picked up from your matches. Thank you for being such an active competitor, I know a bunch of dudes look up to you tremendously at 10P Chicago. I'm definitely one of them.
I HAVE to come train at 10P Chicago soon. It's like 2 hours each way for me. I might come out Saturday
This is awesome!
Nice top pressure John!
I feel that top pressure all the time---its crushing!
