So many super legit contenders. Geo, Nathan, Denny, Richie, and the list goes on.
I would also add Cora to that list to show my appreciation for her hard work and talent.
Bethlehem is an underdog, but those guys got my full respect.
I vote Geo for warrior of the year &! Rochester for moon of the year... As of now
Geo hands down for warrior. for moon i say ann arbor for coming in strong late in the year with this bad ass camp they are putting on lol besides that rochester always is killing it.
Geo for nwoty. Dunno about moon
Geo for warrior and 10th planet Melbourne for moon
Geo for sure
Has been a great year for 10P. Lots of guys stepping up into the higher level scene. Geo has taken the cake though for sure.
The moon will be a tough battle.
With TWO ebi wins (both this year, right?) and a victory over Jeff Glover, it pretty hard to argue against geo at this point. Someone would need to do something pretty amazing to top that for this year in my book. The only person who has done more for tenth planet in competition this year was Eddie in the Eddie vs. Royler 2 match. And I assume Eddie isn't eligible huh? ;)
Moon seems pretty up in the air still to me.
Geo/Cora.
Roc.
NWOTY: Geo/Orchard/Cora
MOTY: Melbourne/Springfield/Yuma
Sorry, who's Cora? Vids? :)
Moon of The Year - Decatur
Warriors of The Year - Mccaghren, Sam Davis, Jacob Harris, Amber kamischke (She racked up like 40 medals this season a majority in the advanced/expert division. I didn't even see our "top competitors" step on the mats in comp 40 times)
Geo for sho
No question Geo.
I got either Geo or Orchard for Warrior.
Coast Mesa or Yuma for moon.
WOTY- while Geo is the obvious choice, I would lean my vote toward Cora. I love the spirit of the 10p Ronin around the earth, and would love to see a Ronin warrior get the honor.
While I agree with John about Amber, I think she is part of a greater whole that makes up 10p Chicago. That gym has a sole purpose in life to be a home to fierce competitors. Some gyms have a small number of members that actually compete on a regular basis, I think that is flipped in Chicago. Very few attend that gym for recreational BJJ only.
MOTY- Chicago!!
I agree with Cora winning it. She has absolutely dominated every competition and would be awesome to see a Ronin win. Or better yet add in a Ronin winner and give to her with Geo winning woty
Definitely Cora. From what I've seen, she has more competition footage this year than pretty much everybody on this forum combined (again, for this year)...and she's still a Ronin.
On another note, it would be great if there was a Black Belt of the Year, too. I've noticed many of the BB's here don't offer too much help/advice, with the exception of Eddie and Herzog. This input is definitely needed from the higher belts so the lowers don't get their dicks stuck in the elevator. Herzog helps out big time, and is quick to clarify challenging positions. Plus he bounces BB impersonators with a quickness.
Peace.
Wow!! Thanks John! This has been Jacob busiest tournament year so far. Although he got silver in a couple of those & went the distance in all his Gracie Worlds matches except one. He wont be satisfied until hes subbing EVERYONE. Just your nomination is a win in my book! MAD LOVE & RESPECT BROTHA:-)
Fastest to BB and two EBI wins... Geo.
Phoenix has won four straight NAGA no gi team championships. Two of them were this year and one of them was an overall championship, and we only had one guy compete in the gi. We consistently show up with 15 strong to competitions and put it on the line.
Geo for sure. Cora and Jacob are so impressive, as well. But 2 EBI wins is hard to top.
Definitely gotta vote for Tony Ferguson for his UFC dominance and co main event win over Danny Castillo. Moon of the year goes to 10th Planet Oceanside for Geo's EBI championships and Kevin/Daniel's Gracie Worlds dominations.
Thank you all for your kind words about Cora but she is just repping 10thplanet on the local level. The person who is showcasing 10thplanet to the world is Master Eddie and Geo. I can't seem to stop bragging to everyone about Geo.
Warrior of the year: Tony Ferguson or Geo.
Moon of the year: Yuma.
Thanks for the support John! It was 28 medals in 10 tournaments at advanced/expert with less than 3 years experience. I ended many tournaments with double, triple or even quadruple golds once I dropped to lightweight and probably 95% of my wins were by were by submission! I just want to do even better in 2015 and represent the team and the system well.
Cora or geo both have done amazing things this year as a ronin would be good to see a ronin win
10th planet london jamie scott is doing a brilliant job of showing the 10thplanet system while surrounded by bjj schools
Let's not forget that Boogey is repping 10P hard in the MMA world, and slaying it for the majority of the time.
Geo, and Decatur.
[QUOTE=JHouse;240002]Definitely Cora. From what I've seen, she has more competition footage this year than pretty much everybody on this forum combined (again, for this year)...and she's still a Ronin.
Thanks bro. There is a reason for my madness...:) You see, this Nov will be our 2nd year anniversary of finding 10thplanet. It was about 1.5 yr after Cora started jiu jitsu and she wasn't picking it up like I think she should. So one day I got an idea. I remembered watching Shinya Aoki killing dudes with this particular technique in Pride. I don't know what's it called until I search for his videos and so happen the technique was called Rubber Guard. With that I continue to research it further and lead me to Submission 101 with Ari. But that was just technique, I want to see it live in tournament. So I search further and found Master Eddie and Denny. I studied and studied and studied to see if Cora can use it also. Then I search for "kids jiu jitsu rubber guard". Nothing pop up. I search using various words relating to kids and rubber guard, still there was nothing. Even the adult barely have anything except for Master Eddie's match and Denny's. All this before I found this forum of course. So with me not able to find any kids doing rubber guard in tournament, I was set on filling that void. So as we started to train the rubber guard, Cora was able to use it to win her match a week later at a tournament. Thus now I have her very 1st win via rubber guard. And its been almost 2 years now and we have flooded the internet with her videos so that maybe, just maybe someone else out there is searching for kids rubber guard like we were. Even with her loss, it still going up online because people can see where she came from and how she progresses. Is she the best, no..not by far, but she will be the most transparent because sharing is caring.
I completly agree.
I think cora and amber and all the others have been great in comp. but geo has reached the top level of competition and killed it. not only that he got his black belt and has taken his moon to a new level. he has also brought break dancing techniques into tenth planet with boogie and imo that has been a massive influence on the system.
for moon, it has to be decatur imo. brandon has been doing sooooo many seminars, he has a video of him beating a challenger in his gym which has over 488,000 hits online. the guys in his gym are killing it in competition. manny is the only dude to have so many sorcerer submissions. so much more. added to that, brandon has brought out heaps of interesting videos and is always on the forum helping out people with super technical advice.
personally brandon has given his time to help me out when i needed some advice online and im looking forward to training with him when i finish studying.
Man I'd go with Denny, Cora or Alan Jouban, and Moon of course Louis Ho and 10P Montreal
This is gonna be a crazy poll :-)
--Geo(EBI x 2 and beating Jeff Glover), Ben Eddy(a purple belt getting 2 hindulotines.. which HE made up.. in EBI is pretty huge), and Denny(Naga, EBI.etc) Too close to call between these and there are a few more guys on the radar but I think these 3 are a notch ahead IMO.
--Hard to vote against Bmac and Decatur considering he wet willy-ed a guy in front of everyone on the internets.
I don't normally nominate my own guys, however I'd like to throw Big Cat (Tom Carbone) into the equation. In the past year he's medaled no less than silver in every tournament and usually doing multiple divisions. I'll have to double check the medal count with him. Some of the medal highlights include 3 Naga Gold 2 Silver, winning a sub only absolute stacked with purple belts and winning his first sub only superfight(via triangle) vs. a legit Behring BJJ Brown Belt all as a Blue belt, on the same day. He was also promoted to purple belt this year(with only 1.5 years of training).
