This isn't a joke. This dude def understands the system. Only the highest level players would be able to catch this guy. It was a solid defense tutorial IMO. Thing is, I'm cool with transitioning to other guards.
Solid rubber guard defense :-)
I love how every single person that is the "RG Expert" in these videos has less than a one stripe white belts knowledge of RG.
hahaha I really needed this. Thanks
I wonder if this guy in the vid even knows that the meat hook n double bagger exist but hey that's classified information :)
I didn't think it was too bad, actually. It's really similar to what I do against good rubber guard players. Of course, when someone really knows the system and has their personal path really polished they can make it a nightmare trying to survive in there.
yeah if im going against high level guys Ill give the omo cause I know I can escape from there
in general I find the best way to stop RG is basic head driving into chin . most give give up cause it sucks for them
that being said Ive tapped to the carni more than I care to admit
and if your gonna demo RG at least do it correctly
dude on bottom looks really comfortable
Realistically those are the two things most people have the hardest time dealing with in RG. Pressuring in and finishing OMO.
A lot of people I played RG on would just turn out and give OMO on purpose because they had very good OMO defenses. Once they would pull out to OMO it was a hard battle where at best I would score a pass. That's why I started playing with ways to lock their head in like hindu and gunshow. I probably just suck at OMO, but I don't like going to it and I actually try to keep them from giving it to me as the 10P guys that have felt it a million times are very hard to even secure a pass out of it.
I wouldnt really say it's a defense as such. there's no countering or anything, it's just jumping into a submission and hoping he can get out of it quicker than the guy can put it on. THere is soo much more the RG guy could do. I love my omoplatas and I love rolling around after them a la marcelo garcia. Putting your leg over like that leads straight to an attack on the legs.
When will they learn that if they want to beat rubberguard they should come train with 10th planet?
I usually don't play for the omo either. I prefer the pass. I would rather try n catch the leg and go for the carni.
I force omo regularly rather than deal with invisible collar or some other stagnate position. It usually works as long as I initiate the movement to omo, that means they are playing catchup. Other than that, I "don't do shit." Play home alone and really keep my hips square with theirs without allowing my elbows to be manipulated until a well timed duckout or I get posture back.
Ya'll need to work on your jiu claw and omo finishes then. Omo is my go to off the basic path, gotta bunch of omo ninjas and omo flippers in the Roc as well.
I like to go to omoplata all the time, but everyone at my gym acts like it's useless. Why do so many people treat omoplata like it's a bad thing to do?
Omo happens to be my finisher pretty much 50%+ or more of the time when I'm going through the basic RG path in my gym for the past 2.5 months. I think I hit 1 carni in there too. I'd really love to get more gogoplatas and reapers, but idk if I can get it if people are keeping their chin tucked.
Try this when people tuck their chin to defend the gogo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y80Y9240BMk . Nastiest face crush, people will stop tucking their chin.
He is getting it under the chin, but if they keep their chin tucked it becomes a face crush. It's the nastiest crush/crank I've ever felt so use responsibly.
Ive been working and working and working at my gym to try to get people to fear the omo again. Most people I roll with know what my go to is, and I can still usually get it. Once in the jiu claw I have my own little way of getting the finish and its been working SUPER well for me.
