Fun match, great movement
Just saw it on facebook 1 hr ago. I'm impressed! Ostap has some good vids on youtube too.
I'd been looking for this match. Thank you!
Beautiful darce.
Thanks for posting, Aiseop. I've been wanting to see this.
Nice!
ostap and i trained at the same gym for a relatively brief period of time. he's unreal. watch out for him in the next couple of years
great match. hope they meet again
The opponent is Otap by the way. He's awesome. The cool thing is that now that I've followed Geo for a while I feel like I was starting to expect what he was about to do. Early on when he got under the hips for the stack pass and the leg drag situation also, I thought he was going into the truck. From spiral I thought he was going to the honey hole but he ended up in double outside ashi. At around 2:05 I was expecting a rolling kimura.
The sweep at 1:59 is awesome. he has a great youtube channel where he breaks down matches. The guillotine sweep into the darce the finished the match at 1:45 it looked like Geo had gone for that left handed guillotine a few times. So I wonder if that's a sweep he does often. Geo had awesome awareness on the darce to tie up the legs/hips with his legs so Ostap couldn't get away. That's such a key detail for darces and marces against good guys.
One question for the leg lockers. At 1:35 when Ostap stands up, why did Geo start to pull top-side ashi? It seems like it leaves a lot of room for the top guy to stuff the inside knee and come through to pass, which is what the opponent tried at 1:42. Isn't it smarter to move the leg from ashi to top side ashi when your opponent is also on the floor and not standing?
The sweep at 1:20 was so smooth, too. What's it called in the 10th P system? It's like Cyborg's Tornado guard sweep or some call it Kiss of the Dragon.
At 1:20 he has a reverse de la riva hook, than once he under hooks he goes kiss of the Dragon for the entry
I don't know if it has any special names but it's typically just called an inversion to the back from RDLR/spiral. The original name is kiss of the dragon. I think it's sort of a lame move for a name like that, which should be reserved for a Palhares heel hook or something. That name started from the Atos guys. A lot of people also call it a reverse/inside berimbolo. There's also a kiss of the spider and a kiss of the tiger. I don't know what the kiss of the spider is but I think it comes from spider guard. And kiss of the tiger starts the same but ends up with a calf slicer on the far leg.
If you are on the mendes site they have like a 30 minute Q&A on the move for nogi that's really awesome.
Kiss of the spider is just the kiss of the dragon with a spider hook and reverse de la riva hook, or from lasso with reverse de la riva hook
I call it kiss of the lass from lasso
They also have a kiss of the scorpion
Has Geo ever trained in a Gi?
lol.. edited.
"Kiss of the Dragon" always makes me chuckle and say "Kiss my ass". Anyone ever seen the movie?
Jet Li: ... Kiss of the Drag-
Tcheky Karyo: Kiss my ass!
Legit!
