play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Yeah, but if that guy had been wearing 4oz gloves...
Pretty disgusting for a professional martial artist to act that way. If the guy was being disrespectful, tap him over and over and send him on his way (ala B Mac). It gets the same point across
Should not even be permissible . A friendly match is ok. But a real fight is something else. Might want to think about somebody getting hurt serious. And for a dumb reason too. I am glad my coach and the 10p do not support this nonsense..
Real sport fight has a referee , rules, and a doctor ringside. Or the state will not sanction it.
He need to learn from B-Mac how to handle this type of situation. B-Mac should do a seminar how to handle bully etc yo
This is unfortunate. I agree there are better ways to handle this. In fact this was one of the worst ways to handle it. Ego... Well if Josh is lucky he won't get sued into poverty, or imprisoned.
Dang, video won't work for me. Somebody got another link?
that was terrible, BUT we only saw a quick snippet of what happened. who knows what went down before then.
Stupid and disrespectful to challenge anyone in their place of business is how I see it.......
I mean the guy said he was coming in to put him in hospital so threat was made and acted upon and he indulged him. Gotta Remember pure MMA guys are a different breed than most as well. I see both side to the coin, I also remember the story rickson tells about the dudes trying to storm his dojo and he wrecked them.
UFC veteran Josh Neer explains story behind video of him beating up 'moron' at his gym - http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2015/2/23...ckout-mma-news
It even made in onto TMZ - he may have some explaining to do
The Iowa Athletic Commission has launched an investigation into the violent gym fight between pro MMA fighter Josh Neer and a social media heckler ... TMZ Sports has learned

I agree this is what ignorant people expect to see from mma fighters - Josh should have schooled him with techerz not aggression B Mac knows!
Taking nothing from how BMAC handled his situation, this was not rolling with a high school wrestler. This was a 6'6" 270lbs man that trains, against a 155lber, who threatened him with bodily harm.
I find it ironic that when fighters actually fight, people are appalled by it. Martial Arts do not exist without war, conflict and fighting which is often forgotten. When golfers talk shit to each other they don't solve their differences by playing basketball they golf.
Good point - Its bad the first thing I thought was I wonder what uncle Dana will say!! I'm no MMA fighter, I would have loved to see Josh use foot work to pick him apart until the dude got the point without it being a bad for the sport but this wasn't the sport it was a fight so different worlds I guess!
I don't think the fight was that big of a deal and apparently the guy was begging to fight Neer and even wants to fight him again after the fact. It was just terrible judgement by Neer to post that video online. A pro mma fighter beating up an amateur in his own gym and then kicking him in the head when he's out does not look good to the law or general public (no matter how big the guy was). Hopefully Neer doesn't get sued or loose his gym because of this.
The guy bought a ticket when he made the challenge. It sickens me that a two grown men cannot consent settle something physically without lawsuits and legality being brought up.
Yikes
Here is the way to handle a bully showed by a true grandmaster!

I won't say I'm for or against whooping someone's ass for coming into a fighter's gym and challenging him. I'm wasn't there. I didn't feel the "vibe" of the situation, the circumstances leading up to it, etc. I'm not placing judgement either way. What I AM going to say is that Neer missed a golden opportunity to turn this into a showcase video/commercial of how the martial art style/s that he teaches works vs much larger opponents. He could have have put on a submission clinic, perhaps throw a bunch of 50% power strikes that hit at high accuracy with beautiful evasive footwork while not taking any solid shots himself. Anyone on the fence about which school to pick could easily be persuaded because the evidence of effectiveness is right there.

The extremely stupid part is actually uploading the video.
josh is one of the original mfs elite guys . It looked like he was actually just taking it easy on him. Ive scene a lot worse in practice sessions. No blood no foul or test the new guy days. Some people should just watch what they say and who they say it to. Not sure if his trash talk was trying to get hype in himself or not but either way maybe stick to boxing cause the ground part didn't end well. zogs comment is right on point!!! A large guy threatens you its not fight or flight for a guy like Neer, its ok hope you signed a waiver time. lol
After reading the interview and seeing what that dude said to Josh, I say fuck that guy. He got what he deserved.
