Holy crap those dudes are HUNGRY! That video got me really amped for ADCC. Looks like some new start might be making their names known. It's pretty crazy that friggin Victor Estima only got 3rd. Those boys are hungry!
siick vid thanks for the post
Nice. Two luta livre guys on the podium including one gold at +99kg.
The guy that took Estima out and won that divison mark my words will medal if not win. He subbed 5 out of his 6 matches by RNC. He's like Marcelo was in '03 the way he's bursting onto the scene without much press or hype and just taking everyone's backs and choking them. Victor Estima was the only guy at the trials that he didn't choke.

Yeah man, I had to do some reasearch on who that guy was. I thought Victor Estima was a shoo in for gold. So when I saw that guy get gold.....5 out of 6 matches won by RNC?!!! I had to look him up. Then I remembered seeing his old BJJ hacks video. But I had no clue he was that much of a killer. It would be awesome to see if he becomes the next Marcelo. But he is going up against some monsters. Keenan, Braulio, I think Romulo is in that division. I'm gonna be rooting for him to win gold. But win or lose, I'm definitely keeping my eye on him.
Yep. Braulio, Keenan, Romulo, Pena, Lovato Jr., Lucas Leite, Pablo Popovitch, Clark Gracie, Claudio Calasans. Right now it's looking like the deepest division so far. Another thing about Pena is that he's not just a gi guy that's doing this because it's convenient. He's said that he really loves doing no-gi and that he does it often.
One thing I'm confused about is that Pena, Romulo, and Braulio are all Gracie Barra guys. I was pretty sure that ADCC added a rule where only 1 guy from each team can enter a division. If they have 2 guys from the same team, they usually at least put them on the same side of the bracket and.or make them fight first (Like they did with Rafa and Frazatto). Braulio was really big against Jacare in their superfight so I thought if might be able to go up to 99kg if he needed to.
I hope Victor still gets an invite. 88kg seems big for him. He usually does 77kg. I think on a good day he could win at 77. I hope he gets in there. Pena is gonna do some damage for sure.
I like how the twister roll-esque transition to the back (even though he doesn't really hook the leg the same) and the Braulio/Marcelo arm-in-RNC are integrated into Pena's back attack game.
I agree man. Pena seems to use the berimbolo style (cross leg) instead of the twister/ninja roll (mirror leg) when doing the rolling back take. I've never been as good at that one especially from the top. That no-gi ezekiel/arm-in RNC should be a bigger part of everyone's game. it takes almost no effort to finish it if you have your angle and positioning right. I used to think it took long arms and a major squeeze but it's not really the case.

Intense!
Cool video even though it only shows 1 out of the 5 rear naked chokes he got for the gold.
