interesting, will play with it tonight. Can't see a huge benefit right now, but interesting. Might want to redo the video with your butt off the mat in twister side before Zog sees that! LOL
I like how bound up the dude's legs are. But I have one question.
When you execute the Humvee, do people try to catch you riding dirty? If so, is there a counter? ;)
....please don't choke me...
I would have to play with it to get a good feel for it. I really like the leg control it offers in the end result. But I try to see things like this from the resisting opponent's perspective to see how it would work for me.
I don't like the entry of hooking the bottom leg. I see too many risks. For example, as you reach for the foot to pull it up, you open a window for the opponent to lockdown your leg which kills the advantage of your hook and presents it's own problems. They could also reverse kneebar with the proper angle. I also see a possible ecape into deep half.
If you can get away with it, I like it a lot. I think there may be a way to force it with less risk. But just the entry itself as you demonstrated makes me feel like it's risky.
Pretty cool options.
The first concept: sticking the bottom leg in...Michael Bartlett actually uses that to set up the honey hole/saddle/411. Nice to see another option from here.
The second concept: Grabbing that leg if they try to trap your bottom leg (from concept 1), this seems to be a modified version of the hog tie. I like this, because I use the hog tie regularly. Maybe I can incorporate this concept while working the hog tie...to make it more secure (or at least have another option).
The 3rd concept: After the roll, sticking your outside leg through...the kamikaze calf crank position. I've been playing around with some twister set-ups similar to this. Truth is (in my estimation at least), the tap is there just from the kamikaze. I only wanted to use it to set up the twister because I'm a dick and sometimes I just want the twister, and your opponent is in such discomfort from the kamikaze that he should sort of allow you to manipulate his body however you want while setting up the twister (if they don't tap to the calf crank in the process).
For what it's worth, I like it. I'm gonna play with it and see how it works. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Haha joshua, ive never been confronted with that problem, my guess would be hold your breath and flow with the go haha
Hey guys, appreciate the feedback, just have a play and see what works and probably doesnt work, i havent been working on it all that long, i just thought i would put it out to see what people thought, coz it works for me. i will put another video up soon of a different entry point. I dont train at a 10th planet gym so im not sure of some of the names you refer to, sorry. Please let me know if you discover any improvements, thanks guys.
Badass. But as soon as a good twister flipper feels your knee off the ground you're vulnerable.
Against flippers keeping the knee glued to the ground is crucial. Have you addressed this?
Awesome I love the Humvee, does this mark the beginning of a move toward an official 10th Planet Manchester?
Also did you just mat the inside of a skip?
nice!! i like it.
Hey bobby, thanks for the question, this is just my first attempt of actually "setting" this move up, so im still trying to perfect it so any issues you find i will try to figure out. I originally found the roll and humvee from when my student did a certain mount escape and then tried to track it back and figure an actual set up. Im certain you guys will figure out all the fine tuning before i do if you play about with it. I just know that if u do get to the humvee then its pretty much over coz the crush is solid, and because of the way both legs are trapped, the twister feels extra tight.
Hey chris, yes it does look like the inside of a skip haha, its my garage haha. I dont know about 10th planet manchester, i only teach a few private students at my house, so its just me and my mate coming up with this stuff, im gona be putting a load more "new" stuff on here that ive been working on soon.
Very cool Craig I love your style mate. What is your story who have you trained with and for how long? Manchester is crying out for a 10th Planet do you ever train with the evolve guys? They were vying to affiliate, James was on the warpath a couple years ago but I think it's on the shelf since they moved premises. Awesome group of guys, wondered whether you'd trained with them to gain an insight into the system.
Thanks chris, i started with thai and jkd 20 years ago then 12 years or so ago i started mma and jiu jitsu with gavin bordman at predators, then i added wing chun to my game coz im a bruce lee geek haha, then ive basically learnt from MTS and books. Now i focus on my own system and encorporate all the best bits ive learned. I like to look at my system as reverse body mechanics which has opened my mind and helped me to create a vast amount of subs, positions and transitions. I will start blasting loads of new videos on here now i know people have a little interest and maybe one day people may want me to do seminars or something like that (thats the dream haha). Maybe 10th planet manchester might happen one day.
Sound mate keep at it you should come to the next seminar here at 10th Planet Birmingham
I would flip this shit in a heart beat. You ain't truck'n no true trucker with that. Anybody I roll with, please give me your knee.
So you are only "allowed" to put videos on here if you are a brown or black belt? Whats that all about?
It was originally put in place to keep unvetted, untested and unproven techniques off the forum to avoid confusion of what is actually part of the system and what is not. If you want to post a video of a technique, hit it in competition against "skilled" resistant opponents, post those. After you hit in competition a number of times, it would then be appropriate to share a instructional here on the forum.
So if you teach but you dont compete, then you cant post videos?
If i dont roll?? Ive been studying and teaching jiu jitsu for over 12 years so ive done plenty of rolling so i have plenty of ability to make a technique work. Every technique i do a video of was discovered mid-roll, yes they might not work against everyone, but then again no technique does. And im not here to be an affiliate.
Oh yes clearly.
No one said all techniques works against everyone, however we're not interest in techniques that work on unskilled non resistant opponents, hence the vetting process.
Is that why you were being deceptive and trying to pass yourself off as a brown belt?
Not with you at the helm.
You are obviously new here. So I'll break it down for you. You don't walk into our house posing as something you're not, posting videos that clearly are the workings of white belt delusion and expect praise. Praise is earned by those the bleed and sweat on the competition mats. If you want to hang out here, you are more than welcome, however I suggest a change of direction or you wont last long. You wont be the first guy coming in seeking attention, but I promise it won't be the attention you are looking for.
The stuff you're 'sharing' will get people to lose position or waste their time. If you catch it rolling often, show that footage.
If I posted all the crazy shit I catch on people I have 20+ pounds on, I'd have a big playlist. And nobody would learn a damn thing.
Friendly advice. Don't take it personal. It's about quality control. Once or twice a year someone, who's never been on the forum, decides their first post should be a vid of some revolutionary tweak to the system that they 'discovered' after drilling 10p for a couple months. Many here trust this site as a legitimate and reputable source to compliment and enhance there jj. For that to happen there has to be guidelines and etiquette. The tech has to consistently work against purps and browns at your same weight or it's low %. We're not training to knot up white belts after all.
Stick around. Hangout and learn with us. But if you post a vid, I would do it as a question. "What do y'all think about____?" Just be prepared for the honesty. Until you get the crazy credentials of the instructors who post on this site, I would just be a humble student. I can tell by your tech that you lack these credentials and experience.
Smashed... brutal... part of me feels really bad, and part of me loved watching this.
Craig....im in Manchester England all the time for work. Next time I'm in town I'll message you an we can get together and roll if you like. Feel free to tape if you would like to send to Mr. Herzog so he can get an idea of your skill set. This isn't me coming at you...thought maybe it could help you out.
I'm always willing to give a guy a chance. Plus it would be cool to have a place to train while over there. Yes, I've been a purple for almost 5 years now... But that shouldn't matter, if he's been training 12 years like he says he would probably be brown, black belt level.. So he should mop the floor with me. :)
Long story...after a conversation i had with my instructor, his opinion is there is no such thing as no-gi belts. Being that I received my purple belt in BJJ almost 5 years ago and I am not ranked in 10th planet and rarely do gi at this point I am no longer eligible to advance (unless I decide to go back to Gi). The highest I advanced to in BJJ was 4 stripe purple. I was told by my instructor that he would vouge for me as a brown belt in no-gi if I decided to do IBJJF tourny etc. but that he can't in good conscious promote me to brown belt in the Gi unless I put a Gi back on.
I would NEVER misrepresent myself as something I am not. This is a no-gi forum...I have never received a rank from 10thPlanet (the 10thplanet school i used to train at changed affiliations) and thus I have no rank in no-gi.
With all of the pointing fingers at belt ranks etc. I don't want there to be any confusion. At this point its just easier for me to say I'm unranked (vs. dealing with the BJJ community telling me I cant be this belt or that since I don't put a gi on anymore). In the grand scheme of things Im no worse at jiu jitsu than i was when it had a little purple symbol next to my name. Would i love to be a black belt one day.....sure....but this is just the way it is right now...maybe one day the BJJ community will acknowledge No-Gi time on the mat equally as Gi time on the mat for belt rank.
Didn't you receive your purple in the Gi? So you're still a purple in BJJ
The last rank I received in bjj was a fourth stripe on my purple belt. I don't really do bjj anymore though and do not have a no-gi rank. It is what it is man. My hope is that either my son or my daughter will give me my black belt one day. Until then... I just keep training to kill everyone.
I got the feeling he feels like brown might be a more appropriate color and that he would be brown if he was training somewhere that could promote him. So if purple is no longer appropriate, and brown is not appropriate, his solution is to remember it doesn't matter what color your belt is, and he demonstrates this by putting on white.
Pretty cool if you ask me.
