I've been a fan of the 10p system for a while, but don't have a school near me, which is Roanoke VA. Finally decided to just try order a couple of the books and go over moves with a friend in the basement.
I'm wondering if you guys have any tips for me being a newbie? Where to go to get ranked, if it's cool to rock the gear being a ronin, etc. Thanks!
I'm a Ronin from Germany and Gustavo from 10P Amsterdam said that I should stick to the Warmups, and I did. My game exploded. Try to start with single flows from each Set and get used to the moves. if you think that certain flows are working out for you use them to warm up. After a while the moves start to make sense and you see options which you learned in other sets.
To get ranked it would be the best option to stick to the nearest gym.

I'm assuming it's ok for me to rock 10p shirts and hoodies even though I don't belong to an official school? I just watch the videos and read the books. Me and a couple friends then go over techniques.
Advice: learn to stretch when watching TV or any other stationary activity. There's no instant gratification to it but you'll benefit from it long term.

I'm pretty sure you're good rocking the merchandise. I've been duel citizen status with 10P and Gracie Barra since 2006 I hit every seminar I can and grew up on the Rubber Guard DVD. Really focus on your lockdown and cocoon/ butterfly position.
