I know ya'll are fans of unorthodox techniques so I think you'll like this episode.
I've been using the "Mr Schembri" position (upside down kesagatame) for a few years now and Nino shows a lot of attacks from it in this video.
It's a great way to surprise your opponent when he passes your guard.

Jake, love the rolled up series, good job on all of them. Get a lot of different looks at styles which is great.
Two things after watching the Nino vid.
#1. Does he realize what his rashguard hand symbol means in America? He's rockin the hell out of the shocker, and if he DOES know what it means, i'm even happier!
#2. Totally unrelated, do you have any idea when either another production run, or another style of the NoGi Kingpin shorts might be coming?
They are the best shorts i've ever owned, and i've owned them all...i need MO! Size 32 please.

1) Yes, Nino (now) realizes what the shocker means. He was shocked to find that out years after he was using the hand sign. Apparently it's an elvis hand sign. He thought about changing it but since he's used it for so long he told me he's going to keep it. I think it's cool, but I'm not sure if it's going to help him build his kids classes... lol.
2) There is a new nogi short coming out in January - it's not a kingpin, but I think you'll like it.
another great episode. I like the escape he used, a tough one to execute, but execute he did.

Great technical break down of a position that sometimes occurs during keylock scrambles from the bottom. Did Nino discuss how to defend against the cross face arm bar that typically occurs from that spot or is the grabbing of his own leg meant to defend that?
He didn't talk about it but I've been playing with this position for about 3 years now and no ones err been able to cross face me put o the position. I'm not particularly strong but by keeping a good grip on your kneepit you don't allow him to posture up which makes the crossface pretty weak.Quote:

Budo Jake, since you've been playing with it for a while maybe you can help a brother out; what is the plan of action if you can't hook the leg? I get to the position, sometimes get the shoulder lock but usually scare people in to moving their arm where I want it, but when the time comes to hook the leg and take them to Kimuratown I can't find the leg. My girlfriend actually points the toes of the leg I'm supposed to hook towards her head, making it physically impossible even for the most flexible of folk to hook that damn thing. Are there any sweeps or follow up attacks I can do? Or do I just abandon and move on?

So I'm guessing the move at 1:20-something is what you were talking about. It looks like he pendulums his leg down while basing with his other hand to really drive forward. I was hoping he'd give some details on it, but I guess I can recreate it in the laboratory. At any rate, great ep!
While I'm picking the brains of the collective, how do you folk deal with limp anklers? Is it ok to just trap the foot to keep them from taking my back, or do I really need to hook it and lift it up? Could I throw a lockdown on that leg instead? I'm very bored at work, if you couldn't tell!

As for the lockdown, well, I think everybody would agree that halfguard/lockdown is better than being stuck in side control if you can get it.
