me using the rubber guard a few weeks ago against my friend. Had a few rookie mistakes. Didnt hug the knee tight enough and he escaped in the first one.
I guess I'm confused. Why would you want to watch other people doing something poorly/incorrectly when you can watch the guy who invented the system do it right? What is to be gained from watching a white belt flopping around with an awful RG? That's not to bash those of us with imperfect RG who have posted vids asking for critiques or showing a tournament highlight. That's different. I just don't see the point in watching video of a novice performing a task poorly when an expert is available. Maybe it's just because there's something about internet forums, but it seems like little more than an attempt to feel better about oneself by watching others fail at a complicated task. Perhaps I'm just being cynical at 9:00am?
OK, good. Thanks Irish. :) I just couldn't figure why somebody would WANT to start a thread of inferior technique vids. "Hey guys! Can we get a thread going of 10-year olds with degenerative muscular disease kickboxing? I see Thiago Alves and Jose Aldo and they make it look so easy! I want to see guys who don't know how to kick showing off their Muay Thai!"
Eddie makes it look easy because a) He's doing it the right way, and b) He's repped doing it the right way
Im seeing it as a good way to learn from others mistakes. If you can point out what others did wrong it will improve your game and give you a better understanding why all of the little details in the system are so important to do correctly and master. Plus its good to see that your not the only person that does make mistakes every once and a while. It helps keep up your confidence.
jon's being a douche bag..... i wanted to see how others do rg when they are at my level of rg!! thats it!
good job... its just little mistakes here and there! lol
Ok i try i roll on mondays and wensday ...dont mind the mindless comment of others
Dartangan, I was laughing pretty hard when your boy after the reset says "Come on N**** did you see his legs wrapped around my face" HA! Priceless...
yea you hit the kung fu move with out using the hand that was prety sick...I try to get a vid up soon of mine...
I agree with some of the other people. As far as moves, yes, I'd rather learn from Eddie or another 10th Planet BB. However, when it comes to fixing mistakes, watching rookies is the BEST. I think my rubber guard has gotten SO much better just from all the times I've seen people fuck up, and I myself have fucked up. It's the things you learn to not do, and the things you learn to do faster that you learn from mistakes. I think its a great idea for a thread. If I can find a partner down here at ECU (Greensville, NC, if anyone is local) I'll try to get a vid up. My guard needs a TON of work, would love to hear what I'm doing wrong/right.
HAHA Yeah Bill that part cracks me up everytime i hear it. Thanks Robert about the kung fu move comment. And i look foward to ur vid. Ill try to get another one up soon too.
That's right I'm a douche. Robert didn't you already make a vid??....
