What do you guys think? I'm surprised the odds are so close, Silva is only a 2:1 favorite. I can't see Silva losing, after the near loss to Sonnen I expect him to be extremely motivated. This feels like the fight to bet the house on. Thoughts?

Well Belfort has always got a punchers chance you never know but outside that I just dont see him having much of an edge on anything but then again you never know Anderson looked pretty bad against sonnen outside that triangle choke
Vitor has a chance against anyone in the world......for 2 rounds. He seems to mentally wear out much past a 1.5-2 round mark though.
Something that makes me think Belfort has a shot though, Sonnen dropped Anderson with a clean, straight punch. Anderson, who has always had great reflexes, look a half step slower, and if you try to get cute in front of Vitor, your head gets punched in. Its going to be very exciting to watch, if Anderson stands right in front of him, he takes a massive risk, if he circles off and leg kicks Vitor for a while and wears on him, he will coast to a win. I look forward to it.
i think it will be a close fight because silva has the advantage of moving out of the way for most of the fights, so on paper you get one of the fastest punchers to fight him then that takes away one of his weapons but that beign said he still has a lot more in his beg of tricks then belfort.
If old Vitor comes to the fight then yeah. He will attack Anderson with speed. If not it should be interesting.
Josh i have to say you avatar is SICK! i know keep to the subject ;) im just sayin :)
Im 100% rooting for Vitor! Super fast hands and sick bjj, there wont be any last second triangles against vitor
Yes Vitor has a chance. First off, these guys know each other. There is no intimidation factor for Anderson. Vitor probably feels he's the better fighter, despite being the older of the two. Most of Andersons wins come due to the fact that his opponent can't hit him. Vitor will not have this problem. Also, Vitors boxing experience and cutting off the ring will help to isolate Anderson. The question is, what will happen when the two exchange blows. Anderson has never really been hit but this doesn't mean that he can't take a punch. It's just a mystery. Vitor, on the other hand, has a weak chin. If he can't KO Anderson, he may be the one getting KOed. This is a hard fight to pick. I agree with the odds. This could very well be a Rua Shogun II with Vitor being Shogun.
This "Old Vitor" has been rumoured to exist somewhere but he hasn't been seen in like 10 years. I personally think vitor has been running off of hype for a long while now. If he doesn't grab a KO from one of the first 3 exchanges he seems to disintegrate, both physically and mathematically.
yes
What, on earth, gives you the basis to call Vitor's chin weak, in any way? The guy took a shin to chin in Pride from herring, took some BOMBS from Chuck back when he had his mojo, never got rocked by Hendo.....I guess I missed the fights where he turned into a glass joe.
One of my trainers said to us no body could beat Vitor if there was no such thing as angles if everyone stood right infront of him he'd dominate and after watching his fights a totally agree. But Anderson is not gonna do that so Anderson hands down (LOL forest griffen)
Apparently Vitor has been jumping from camp to camp lately, and his former trainer Shawn Tompkins was saying that he's not loyal to any coaches and some other crap. I don't recall exactly what he said, but it's probably not a good sign that Vitor is switching up his training this close to the fight (he's at Xtreme Couture now, but isn't really part of the team as much as he's just training there from what Tompkins said)
i wouldn't put him at the back of the line, i just think most of the fighters he easily controls standing are strictly grapplers or wrestlers
Vitor had so much promise at the beginning of his career. His biggest problem is his head. Vitor is a head case! All the talent in the world. I believe he EASILY has the talent to beat Silva. Mentally NO!!! He's going to have to let those hands go!
Anderson, Vitor, and Lyoto are the only ones to outstrike Rich. He has a good chance and gonna be a great fight.
He has reeeally good boxing.
So basically you guys do NOT think I should bet the house on silva. :) duely noted. Thanks 10th Planet family! Luv Yall! :)
Bet it on vitor! Id say anderson edge over vitor is his reaction speed, agility and accuracy... where vitors edge would be his power and hand speed.
silva is a middleweight who dabbles in light heavy where as vitor has been light heavyweight champion and a top heavyweight contender
anderson has shown he has a solid chin. didnt u watch cheal beat on him for 4 and a half rounds nelson lol? he got hit with some super big shots on the ground.
yeh he can take a shot! somehow chael came out looking more beat up than anderson... chael must have weak skin on his face :p
I'm expecting Vitor to KO Silva.......Vitor has crazy power and speed something Silva has not had to deal with in a long time and they are probably pretty equal on the ground so it will hopefully be more of a stand-up fight and I expect Vitor to close distance fast and sneak a shot in that will rock Silva and get him in trouble.
At least I'm hoping to see Vitor win :-)
