Rolling Drill
I have been rolling with a tennis ball taped to my hands once or twice a week for the last month and damn its an amazing way to kill it working the overhooks and underhooks. When I do roll without the balls my main focus is overs and unders but this just makes it that much tighter. Anyone ever do this?

thats a pretty good idea. though i might just squeeze them instead of tape them so you can work hooks AND grip at the same time? either way, i'll give this a try tomorrow when i roll.
-
Yeah I usually squeeze them, but sometimes when you are going harder its nice to have them taped on just so they dont get knocked out of ur hands.

Understanding the importance of over/under hooks, should a beginner try working this way too? To force the use of over/under hooks from the get go?
-
Would never have thought of that.

Great Drill...Keith Owen had me do that for my blue belt test in BJJ. Its different!
-
yeah my homie Jason Eisner makes us do live drills and top guy has the balls in both hand...
if you drop em...push ups son!
andre galvao puts one hand in his gi and rolls like that

Sounds fun I think im going to try that.

i broke my right hand ( strong hand ) and was in a cast all of jan, i grappled with one arm and could not grip with my right so i had to use all overs and unders. i played a lot of butterfly guard and worked cocoon set ups. with 2 hands it should be much better.
