I am going to compete in gi and no-gi in my next tournament, March 12th The revolution in Washington, and I was wondering what you would do. I have never taken a formal class in gi and have only rolled in one maybe 5 times. I compete in the advanced division in no-gi, so I am just curious what others have done.
You should compete in the kids division
When was your last roll in the gi? When you did train in the gi, how did you do against other blues, purples, etc.??

go purple dude. you will just be better for it in the long run, win or lose.
Also go to the more skilled divison, Herzog has made me compete in blue belt or higher in every tournament since I started. It will only make you better.

No not just for show champ, but like I said I have only rolled in a gi a handful of times.
Always roll at your belt level. Anything less would be sandbagging.Quote:

I guess for the most part I don't believe in myself enough which makes me question my rank since I have only been practicing jiu jitsu around two and a half years now. I appreciate the input and the sarcasm guys thank you. :)
