Yeah im happy that i found this out...i love chael some people tell me they see alot of simmalarities beetween me and sonnen we even look the same lol the only difference is that i love bjj (and wrestiling) but sonnen hates bjj lol but chael is like my hero haha
What's everyones opinions on this...?
I know that it's an unpopular opinion, but I don't see why anyone cares. Juiced/natural, so what. Steroids won't make you hit home runs, develop your instincts for a particular sport or game, or make your jiu-jitsu technique any better. For the most part, it's a supplement like any other. Sometimes I think people have a misconception about how pervasive the effects really are.
Plus, testosterone replacement therapy is a legitimate medical option for older guys to combat the effects of aging. It isn't about sports performance.
I loved that he gave Silva a run for his money, juiced or not.
He was being treated for hypogonadism, which can be secondary to anabolic steroid use. If he truly had primary hypogonadism, which I am assuming he is claiming, they why does he need to have testosterone levels eight times the normal range.... why not just supplement yourself back to within the normal range. I may be missing some pharmacokinetics here, but it seems odd.

This is my understanding of the test he failed, its not that he is 8x normal level, but his ratio of the two hormones tested is off by 8x. This is common in men with Low T, as the other hormone (could be an estrogen, I really dont know and dont remember) and the Low T are in "balance". When a person is being treated for the low T, it takes a long time for the lower level balance hormone to come into profile with normalized level of testosterone. So its not like his level of actual testosterone was high, its just it was high for his body's natural production, which is why the ratio was off. So he could have a "legal" testosterone level, but still have a very skewed ratio, because of the former condition of having low test.Quote:

Steroids get a bad rap in combative sports and from what I can tell, the use of steroids is greatly misunderstood. From what I have read, the greatest value of steroid use for MMA is in muscle recovery and for preventive health. More mat time and time in the gym, allowing you to cram a decades worth training into a 3-5 year time span.
Then again, that's also why you get 28 year old dudes with the blown knees of a veteran thai boxer.

He didn't disclose anything to the athletic commision. Look up the video of his CSAC hearing. He gets called out for never disclosing the info. Chael is awesome cause he just straight up lies to people in his interviews and shit without ever thinking of the truth getting out. It's pretty hilarious.
this guy is piece of shit. this is far from over according to the athletic commission. He has done nothing but lie lie and lie some more. If you think he is on the level than your high. which I understand may be possible right now.
If you don't understand that testosterone is steroids than I can see that you missed the point. He was taking testosterone which is what steroids are. He didn't follow the rules and he lied about it which is why he got suspended. Now we will find out how his re-licensing process goes to see the real punishment.
