I want shogun to win just so him and lyoto can have a rubber match and lyoto can win his belt back.
Jones is starting to act like a cocky bitch, and i hope he gets submitted on the ground, OR he gets flatout embarrassed on his feet because im tired of stupid ass spinng back elbows orcflying spinning backfist its annoying.
I really like both fighters, but Shogun is a murderer. It'll be a good fight, but I think Shogun is going to wreck him.
It's been a while since I've been so pumped for a fight. Why is the 205 division so much better than the others? I got shogun in the 2nd tko
I'm rooting for shogun too. Jon Jones is gonna be LHW and HW champ one day, just not yet. I'm curious to see shogun's game plan plays out. Jones is so long. I say shogun should attack one of his long legs and crank a knee bar. But Jones is so dang big.
Jones' body is a wrecking machine. Crazy long reach, fast, strong, throws, subs, the whole nine yards. He probably will be the champ one day, but hopefully not this weekend.
The larger the fighters the more charismatic and epic the clash. You might think then the HW division should be better than the LHW, but LHW lets fighters to be large aggressive guys who have one puch knockout power or deliver insanely hard kicks AND have gas and athleticism to back it up.
Guys like Cain Velasquez are bringing this aspect to HW and probably in the future we will see 265 pound versions of Rua pulling off the same moves.
i could see Jones winning but i don't know why there putting the legend as the underdog.
Too much reach, too athletic, too creative...Jon Jones by TKO in the 1st. FORM Athletics, team Alpha Male....UFC 128 is gonna be great, lets goooooo!!!!
I just recognized something as I was watching older Shogun fights. When Rua faces an opponent that has a very long reach advantage, he wins by GnP. Overeem, Diabate all ended the same way. Jones has huge reach but can Shogun GnP Jones?
I can't believe nobody is talking about why Shogun is a underdog and why more than likely he will lose! Its simple, yet no one want's to talk about it on any thread I've seen. I know why the UFC doesn't talk about it. They're trying to sell a fight. Shogun will NOT BE 100%!!!!!! When Shogun is a 100% he is the best of the best! When you take any athlete who is the best in their sport, any sport...football, basketball, etc. and that person has a knee surgery. When they comeback from the surgery they don't comeback as the best player anymore...it takes time to get back to that elite status! The last time Shogun had knee surgery, he was dominated by Forrest and barely beat a gassed Mark Coleman. It took time for him to get back to his elite status. The same is true now and I won't even get into ring rust, that would be another factor! Shogun will not be 100% for this fight! Shogun could still win this fight but the odds are against him!
Just because of the ridiculous amount of hype and because I'm a Shogun fan, I hope that Jones gets his face caved in.
The only thing is, Shogun had alot less bounce back time from the Surgery he had before. He has been rehabbing for over 6 months now, and is the same shape he was before he fought Machida, so I dont think that will be as big a deal as some folks think. But we dont know till the fight goes live.
I love this fight! love it! The legend vs. the young lion. I really don't have a dog in this fight. I just recently got over my Rampage Jackson myopia in the LHW division. I fantasized about Rampage vs. Shogun 2 but that's not looking like it's going to happen. Rua is taken down a lot and I think that bones taking him down with that long frame will put him in awkward positions as jones' long arms can make him get subs he shouldn't be able to get. I'm thinking shogun is planning in going muay thai on him...but how good is that knee to provide that.
One thing that we are forgetting as well. Jones has been shadowing Shogun for Rashad Evans his hole camp. He's been pretending to be Shogun so he has seen and felt rashad's game plan, now he has spent 6 weeks adding his unique blend on it....
Also nobody came up with this prediction. I say Shogun gets Dq'ed due to a headstomp and they wrap the LHW championship belt around the waist of an unconscious Jon Jones while he is laying on the stretcher :)
Andy, so you know about Shogun's inner murderer too. If it wasn't for ref stoppage, I think he'd actually kill someone in the cage.
Yeah, if you look at an English-Portuguese dictionary Chute-Boxe translates to murder.
All joking aside, there is always that possibility of Rua to lose his temper and stomp/soccer kick someone.
Hard to stomp/soccer kick someone from your back.
i believe shoguns pride mystique is only back because of his performance against machida. he found a perfect training partner to mimick machida, and lets face it, machida literally fights the same way everytime, its just that shogun was the only one smart enough to train for machida with a karate fighter.
its gotta suck having trained for rashads double leg and then in the last six weeks, have to worry about greco roman suplexes. i dont think shogun has had enough time to prepare for someone like jones.
Gifted Big Guy vs Talented Murderer. Honestly I don't care who wins, it's going to be exciting to watch. I do think Shogun is going to win though, but if I'm wrong, I don't care. I'd like to see GPS vs Diaz as well someday. I'll start praying to the MMA Gods.
It won't even be close... Shogun by way of TKO.
Fight training camps usually do not start with specific training for the fight. They usually start with strength/conditioning and overall skill improvement in all areas, then focus down on the last 4-6 weeks in to the gameplan, so I don't think he has much of a disadvantage on that prompt.
Naw man, Jones is gonna win it. That would be perfect to build his career. He'll be the champ, either that or they wanna set him up for a comeback like Alistar
I can't believe what I just saw! This kid is good. John Jones. I was rooting for Shogun but you can't deny this kid is good.
After wacthing what Jon Jones did to Shogun i think im going to have nightmares
Absolutely ridiculous, John Jones has some serious skills, and combined with that reach he is devastating and beautiful to watch. I was actually sad when it ended because it was that much fun to watch.
Wow, Jones totally outclassed Shogun. And Jones is still very raw. Only 3 years of MMA training. That's nuts. Did you guys notice Shogun tapping as Herb Dean stepped in to stop it? How soon before we hear people rank him #1 pound for pound? Props to Jones.
John Jones is the truth. He made Shogun look like a begginer.
Jon Jones is #1 p4p who the fuck does that to shogun?!?!?!?!?!?!
#1 are u kidding? Only reason hes good is because of his reach and his height
Take those away and he would have gotten wrecked
That's fucking stupid. It's like saying the only reason usain bolt won the 100meter dash is because he's fast.
Told you bitches! lol

It's hard for me to imagine what jones is going to be like in 5 years. He's like the Micheal Jordan of mma. He's technical, explosive, he has such an incredible variety of strikes and what a gentleman. I really like bones.
Good job taking someones prediction and then simply stating what happened in the fight after the fact.
You're really amazing.
And, yea, Brent. Throw in his technique, conditioning, and coaching, with his reach and height. He's nothing without that stuff. Basically sucks.
